The Bogleheads' Guide to Investing Book by Mel Lindauer, Michael LeBoeuf, and Taylor Larimore

If you want to invest for the long run, you'll just have to buy diversified, low expense ratio index funds. It's fairly straightforward and I would suggest reading the FAQ of the personal finance sub. At this point you are better off learning about all the different tax advantaged accounts that are available to you, so that you don't leave free money on the table.

Sign up for TDAmeritrade(free). They have free classes. That's how I learned. Made a killing this year. Seriously contemplating shorting Tesla. That guy from The Big Short who is a sperglord that predicted the housing crash is putting all his money on shorting Tesla. But yeah if you want slow and steady it doesn't exist anymore. Fundamentals are out the window due to the Federal Reserve intervening. You have to keep switching strategies depending upon the mood of investors. One that seems to work no matter what is the wheel strategy but with only a couple thousand dollars it's hard to find cheap enough stocks to do it with.

Keep in mind that you must keep emergency funds and investment funds separate because you can't get your investment money out on short notice and may have to take a loss by doing so. Also wallstreetbets is the most effective way to lose all your money. It's a bunch of really smart guys who use the forum to create pump and dump situations that they are prepostioned to capitalize on. You can learn a lot by reading it but never ever take their advice or jump on the bandwagon.

Its really not that difficult if youre relatively disciplined. Max out your roth and trad. 401k. Thatll get you rich when youre 65.

Read a Random Walk Down Wall Street. Don’t try to beat the market. Buy the market. Look into ETFs and index funds

I read those books but seldom took something of value out of them. I would rather recommend the more complicated books of Nassim Taleb (Antifragile). Its full of practical tips which worked out in my opinion. E.g. "A good bet comes to you, you don't run after it"

Also I'd say some traditional lecture on finance/ portfolio theory is a good foundation. Maybe you can visit a university course or something. You should at least have a grasp how macros like interest rate, currency prices, growth influence stock returns.

Then tbh WSB has its place. Interest rates are very low aka long term safe growth is very small. Currently huge amounts of money run into bubbles like tech stock, crypto and real estate. If you want to make a lot of money you shouldn't neglect certain trends.

And finally, just start with a conservative amount of money and make your experiences on how to trade stocks, how to pay taxes and how much, when not to buy or sell and so on. The earlier you make mistakes to learn the less money you'll lose in the long term
