That part about those types of men commenting on feeling unsafe as a man is so important to respond to. So many times I’ve heard guys say the exact same thing and instead of using their experience as a reason for having empathy for women, they’re only using their experience as a way to shut down the discussion that women are having about our safety. It amazes me that they can experience lack of safety as a man and then deliberately ignore thinking about how they would feel if they were like a foot shorter and at least 50 pounds lighter with way less upper body strength.

I’m old and jaded so I just think these “not all men” types know exactly what they’re doing and they’re probably abusers or apologists. Fuck it, all of ‘em who keep saying stuff like that. Because we’ve all heard it a zillion times, if you’ve been on the internet any length of time, you know it’s like this every. Single. Time. So at this point, in the year of our lord 2021, I can only assume “not all men” is said with malicious intent to purposely divert or obfuscate the issue of male violence.
