Otoh, some states like mine are all about 50/50 which still screws you if you earn a lot more than her but....I've seen the pain and heard the wailing from women I've been with when they had to share. Especially 50/50 custody which truly fucks up the money extraction from the man process.

I love a good sob story from a woman who got "screwed" in her mind.

A former co-worker actually did this to his ex wife. She owned a house from her first marriage. They got married but in my state he's not entitled to any of that.

A few years later they want to remodel and re finance the house and now his name is added to the title.

They start having problems at around year 7. They separate and she starts the divorce process but takes him back when she finds out how much she'll lose. Another couple years and her parents die and leave her a significant inheritance. ($200,000) She hides the money (she thinks) and initiates divorce again.

He has been divorced once before so he has a friend who's a lawyer recommend a cutthroat divorce lawyer. Her inheritance gets found and the divorce judge is pissed.

She had to pay him off half the inheritance and the equity built into the house from the time of the re-finance. She didn't touch his retirement or car so he came out smelling like roses.

I saw this happening to a friend. He was already established with his own apartment, his cars, his speed bikes (he used to make those long distance competition challenges), he had to give away most of his stuff in the divorce - even the things he owned pre-marriage.

What had him in the guts was that they had a kid together. And all went down from there on.
