You have a lot to learn my young one. This is how many women are, lie and deceive in order to gain some kind of short-sighted advantage.

It's a story as old of time.

You can sense it, you always could. But some part of your brain stops you from believing it because: 'Why would someone do that?' ... 'What purpose does it serve?' ... 'Why don't they just be honest and tell the truth?' ... ''Is their memory really that bad?'

The answer is the feeling that you have in the back of your head but are too honest a person to believe somebody would actually do that.

She is lying my friend. Straight up lying. Sometime there is not even an advantage to be had. But simply just fucking with your head makes you more manipulable later on, more accepting of her behaviour, and... sometimes they just find it fun to see how much they can mess with you and turn you into a puppet.

But you know it, you're just to honest a person to actually believe someone can be that terrible. They can.

To answer your question, what does she get out of it? She gets to see how can you be manipulated, and do it more. It is all about control and how she can tell you to jump, and you respond: how high?

What does she get out of it? She gets you stumbling over yourself like a fool. Or perhaps she’s setting up plans with you in case her others fall through. Who knows?

You have to show respect for yourself and distance your relationship with her. Why should she get to treat you like this? Don’t bother making plans with her anymore and keep an eye on any feelings you develop for her.

Don't get angry, just tell her you are bored of her behavior, that you want some space and proceed to ghost her completely for 1-2 weeks. She will insult you, cry a lot, beg you to stop ignoring her, etc, but don't bother. Just let her go through all of these emotions because ultimately that's what she is craving for (young women are particularly unstable)

In the mean time, focus on yourself, workout, hang out with your male friends, etc.

Then contact her, this time you will be in a position of strength, maintain it.

If she does it again, it means you have done something wrong that made you appear weak, or she is simply just greedy. This time, ghost her for a longer period of time, or just leave her completely.

All women will try to be manipulative at least once or twice, even the "decent ones", just put an end to that very quickly and you will be fine.

People talk a lot about ghosting her, but I would prefer to face her down. (Note: this might be specific to my mentality/character).

Ghosting implies some degree of hiding, which could imply she intimidates you (does she?), and ultimately might prove empowering to her. I would just document (mainly for my own knowledge) a pattern of her deceptions. At perhaps one but likely not more points, I would confront her with an example of behavior I find unacceptable. If the behavior continues, which is highly probably, I would say "I am not interested in seeing you anymore, because (e.g.) you are untrustworthy, your communication is problematic, etc." Note: this is simply stating your position and not any kind of "fight". At that point the time for struggles/effort is over, and, from then ghosting/ignoring her is recommended.

Whenever you start to become emotionally involved with someone (can be beneficial when it succeeds, though these days that is rare), they start to get some hooks into you. That is just a fact of life. It is in your best interest to deal with / remove those hooks when you sever contact.

If she is gaslighting you, you should imediatly make it about her as soon as gaslighting starts.

For example, if she does some knitting on the side, tell her how bad she is at that. Proceed to tell her how nobody cares about her hobbies or her opinions.

But be warned, if she is a colleague don't do it or sooner or later you end up at HR.

If she is not a colleague or family, do as I say and than let her ghost you. Don't call, don't text, nothing. Good luck.
