It is fascinating what Hollywood decides to promote as the ideal. My brother is watching Benjamin Button and I can't help but be amazed at the gall of this kind of story.

Benjamin goes out of his way to be good to the girl at the old people's home he lives at and all she can do is talk about everyone desiring her and how much she enjoys it, getting offended when he doesn't immediately jump at the chance to get a room somewhere with her.

His father dies, leaving him a fortune and when he goes to tell her this, she doesn't even give him the time for a conversation as she is busy being courted by everyone and making out with her dance chad. She finds out he had come to share his father's death and no, she doesn't go to him, she keeps partying it up for years. Guess what makes her 'realize' she loves him? She breaks her leg and loses her ability to dance again, she is starting to show her age and he is getting into his peak, when all women will want him.

And to top it off, the daughter she has with Benjamin is foisted onto another man to raise as his own. And of course in spite of this, even as she is old and wrinkled and Benjamin is in his early 20s shape, he still desires her and she cheats on her husband with him.

This is the ideal they are selling us of what a beautiful love story should be. A woman having total disregard for the man who respects her and does anything for her, one who supports her but who she never makes any effort to support. One who when she has lost options can just take the spare orbiter of the shelf so nobody else can have him.

And they don't see how ridiculous it is? MGTOW is simply seeing the story as they tell it, looking past the propaganda and being rational. It is difficult to imagine how anyone can look at such stories and think them romantic or even anything other than repulsive exploitation.
