Slowly phase him out man. Get comfortable with doing the things you want to do alone for a while. He might not be a bad guy but its draining you physically, emotionally and financially. Put yourself first. There are a few outcomes from this 1. You feel recharged and not be as drained if you decide to hang out with your friend. 2. By doing the things you like you might meet another friend who has similar interests. 3. You get so comfy being alone you dont need anyone else for company.

So we talk about hobbies here, try something with a social aspect, where you have to interact, meet people. Get yourself away from this person, because you might not have friends because you hang out with him. He sounds negative. As you move through life, you will see that friends come and go. You want to grow? Ask for ideas here. We support. What are your interests? Go from there.

Your friend is a narcissist There is no cure for this because a narcissist truly believe in their mind they are correct. Psychiatrist will tell you to move on because you can't win with them. Your next goal is developing some quality friends. However, this i s not easy because to have a friend you have to be a friend. You have to engage and put yourself out there and take turns talking and listening. Learn to filter out people that don't give and take. One thing to remember the world is a mirror. If you smile all the time, people will smile back at you. If you are sad sack and a sourpuss all the time....you will get the same in return. Most people that I have met that had no friends seemed to be so caught up in their own feelings that they had no room for anybody else. They made sucky friends.

Friends can make a good life even better. Have you considered becoming a Freemason? It is a solid institution made up of some good men. I joined in 2016 and now have many friends who are Masons. There are meetings, events, pub nights, breakfasts and even couples formal balls for fun. Pick and choose what and whom you enjoy wisely.

Yes ditch but you dont need to do it immediatly, start to slowly decreasing the rate you see him while you look for new friends, every week, then every 2 wwek then every months until you dont see him again.
Just slowly start evaporating form his life that gives him time to re settle with other people as well.

He sounds like a narcissist bro, Give it a good google. I was in a similar friendship for the first 10 years of my life and I didn't truly start living my life until he began banging my girlfriend and I fucked him off and her. I know he's miserable somewhere now and it gives me joy.

It sucks because he'll try make you feel guilty and shit for looking after yourself but trust me it just has too be done. You'll be all the better for it. Meeting new people will just happen by itself. Just go back into the world and make an effort with other people. Be yourself as well more then you usually would, the natural effect will be you having people around you that are like minded.
