I have rarely ever seen a situation where a man has decided that he should explain to anyone - man or women that there is some information they are missing or there is a better way to do something and they turn out wrong.

Everytime I have seen it the man knows for sure he has more experience and knowledge about the subject.

If it is in a learning situation then it maybe misplaced or unneeded. Because then you want the other person to try and fail so they learn from it. But if it is actually doing a real job then you should be pleased that someone with more experience is advising.

Are some people smug about it? Yeah probably. Could they have approached it with more tact - yep. But that is just people. Nothing to do with genders - all people can be guilty of condescension or smugness.

The map applies to woman too. Anyone of any gender is capable of condescendingly explaining something to someone of another gender what they already know in a demeaning and judgemental manner.

So there re so many things wrong with this

First assuming only men can be condescending, that behaviour isn't limited purely to men, in fact studies have shown that behaviour is more likely to be used by women through passive aggressive remarks.

Second they label confidence as a man with his arms crossed, yet every single psychological assessment of body language states folded arms is defensive and shows lack of confidence.

In other words they use a bullshit image to spout bullshit to justify their bullshit and avoid being called out for their bullshit.
