I have a lot of pent up anger toward my Dad mainly because he let my Mom raise me and he's never open or available with me, never listens to me, etc.

I'm 19 so I'm kinda numb to it. But it's a damn shame that TRP has taught me more about life and being a man than my own father.

Anyway we just got into an altercation and I told him I might as well not even have a Dad. And I truly feel that way. I've been heavily influenced by my close-minded Mother and her close-minded parents, surrounded by my Mother's close-minded friends and close-minded siblings. I've never really had a male figure that I look up to and cherish. All my Dad ever did was just go off on people and try to assert his dominance (which really isn't even there).

I just wanna learn how to really be a man. I'm contemplating reaching out to my uncle who's really cool and admirable but I've never really been close with him or the other men in my family and for some reason I feel like they don't think favorably of me just because my Dad's a dickhead.

I envy all my friends because they're way farther ahead than I am. Their Dad's are successful and have given me more quality insight and examples of how to be a father than my Dad ever did. I really just can't relate to anyone because they're growing into men and I'm still trying to find myself.
