I remember having to get passports within 3 weeks of an international trip for my former boss. Dude made no mention of not having a passport. Like $900 later with all the rush fees I got it pushed through. Would have been much, MUCH cheaper if he had just planned a little earlier.

Passport is a must have. So much adventure, and a federally recognized "you are you" document.

It sure is nice to be able to travel but I often feel like a prisoner going through some internment camp when I'm going through airports and customs. I'll never travel to the states again, they are the worst, though I know they do it on purpose to dehumanize/demoralize people. But even in my home country, Canada, I have needlessly been treated quite rudely by customs agents, and I have a clean history. On the other hand, I've had much better experiences in European and Asian airports.

Even the airlines highlight the stark cultural differences though. Canadian airlines you get these middle aged usually fat/ugly stewardesses that stomp around like they own the place and give passengers attitude, as well as plenty of flamboyant gays. On the various Asian airlines I've traveled with you have pretty, young, demure, very feminine and polite stewardesses and maybe a couple of men who are very professional and seem to be deferred to by the women if some shit goes down.

Anyway, excuse my off topic rant..

I have one and a passport card I use as ID instead of my driver's license. I guess I'm a little concerned about RealID so I opted out. I was planning to travel to Wales some years ago, but it fell through so I never got to use my passport.
