Why is no one talking about this?

And this IS?

The theory is that eventually computers will be powerful enough to simulate a world and once that happens there will be many such simulations happening all the time. Therefore the overwhelming odds are that we are living in a simulation.
If one cannot tell virtual from reality....

You need to take it slow. It is a big red pill. I would buy a book or youtube it. There is also a subreddit. You can also read Plato’s republic allegory of the cave on wikipedia or find a copy online.

Because most don't get it
For them they think why would I intentionally live this shitty life?
They think they're the protagonist in final fantasy as opposed to a randomly generated dwarf in dwarf fortress. Dwarf fortress is amazingly in depth and every character Is unique and has its own story to tell.
However individually the dwarves are pretty mediocre. A dwarf that sounds most of his life making soap and stumbles across a tomb where locusts eat his eyes as he's trying to collect materials for his soap making might seem like a fun few seconds for us the observer. But for him it's a tragic tale of his whole life was being a soap maker and the most interesting thing about him was losing his eyesight in the most painful way possible.

Same reason not many people are not talking about the e8 theory.

It doesn't matter. If something is not falsifiable, there is not much point wasting time talking about it unless it has subjective value, like religion.
I guess if you want to start a new religion, go ahead.

That's how I feel as well

Many are. Nick Bostrom has at length. There are many talks on Youtube, many articles and arguments. But in general it has no impact on how I'm going to live my life. It's an interesting thing to noodle over, but so are Boltzmann brains or other candidates. We can't know that the world isn't a simulation, but it's not clear what connection that could have to what decisions I make here in what I perceive to be reality.

A lot of people are talking about this, but it’s basically a thought experiment, not something that can be proven or that it would help us in any way. It does have moral implications though.
If your asking why no one is talking about it in a MGTOW context, fair enough.
In a simulation, MGTOW would be a measure of society, a metric if you will. We are the early signs and catalyst or a civilization’s cultural rhythm.
There would probably be simulations of MGTOW only society.

but it’s basically a thought experiment
I think the fact that an observer can influence a quantum mechanics experiment it's enough to make you wonder if "reality" is dinamically constructed. Something akin a LOD or occlusion techniques.
Its similar to an mmorpg. Everything in the game seems to come from nothing. Stuff started showing up after the computer is booted up. In the game there is a beginning, but before that, there was nothing. Similar to us. All we know is after the big bang.
There is also computer code in nature according to a physicist, whose name I can’t remember right now.
When you play games where you view gets detailed while areas where you are not looking disappear to save processing power. Similar to when we influence quantum dynamics from just observing. An electron is a wave until you observe it, then it becomes a particle. And, the electron will change its past and future to be a particle the moment you observe it.
Also, we can test this theory if we make a simulation almost like our rl. Distance between galaxies is ridiculous. The simulation can be done just simulating our solar system or galaxy instead of the universe.
Thats crazy talk about mgtow only societies.

So do you think reality is a simulation and we (MGTOW) are the Agent Smiths trying to reboot? (Yeah I believe Agent Smith in The Matrix is"The One", not Neo).
If so many people believe it, like Elon Musk, why would he waste his time debating shit on Twitter?
Nah. I think it’s simulation like but not a simulation. But, who really knows. We could be just a science project for some nerdy alien kid, and he forgot about us.
lol indeed
[–]fmanly 1 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Why wouldn't he? Why waste time debating shit on Twitter if this is the only world that exists?
The effects of such debate are the same either way. IMO the significance is the same either way as well, but significance is a subjective value judgement.

While I like your metaphor of trying to reboot the system, I'd instead say that we are a DDoS attack on the Economy of the Gynocentric System.
We are killing the system by 'opting out'; Only Working enough to NOT support ourselves without supporting the system, draining the Social Security Systems, hiding our wealth from the tax collectors and waiting for the system crash to happen due to economic hemorrhaging.
Manning's Law is clear: Starve the Powerful Lobbies and Institutions of money, and then we can Reset the Patriarchy without women's permission!

Quite a few people are, Elon Musk had in interesting piece about it.
