So tomorrow I move into my new place. First time living alone since 2017. What are some of the first things I should do after separation from my wife?

Get everything copied, and filed. Having legal documents clearly spell out who is responsible financially for what, child custody agreement, finances, everything, will make the process easier. Read some good books, work out, spend as much time as possible with your kids if you have any.

Someone gave me this advice and it worked for me. Do NOT go out and buy everything you "think" you need right off the bat. Wait till the need arises and make a list on your phone, google docs, wherever you track stuff. Rank things by want/need levels. Buy when feasible or by need level. No need to pile on to any divorce debt you've most likely acquired. If people come over and see you don't have decor... they understand if they know your story.Don't try to buy things to impress anyone or prove something about post divorce life. I've seen this happen. Girl or Guy gets divorced, buys a trip or car they can't afford to prove to everyone they made the right choice and are now living their "best life" Now if you can afford it... treat yourself to something, but try to be smart about it.

Regardless of how you feel about the divorce (happy, upset, excited, sad) the quiet nights can/will hit you hard when you don't expect it. I experienced it and I've watched plenty of friends go through it. Find healthy ways to spend free time on top of any things you may already do. I picked up hellofresh cooking for a while, it was a great way to spend an hour and try something new for myself. I'd put on some good music, and fumble through a recipe.

Walking, running, working out, can be an amazing tool to spend time, feel good, get healthier... but for some of us... really hard to initiate. If you're like me, you have to force yourself to do something like that, but then always appreciate it after a good workout session. I need to get back at that... COVID has really put the pounds on LOL.

I did it after 23 years in reverse: my wife left . It’s so hard to see the house we lived in and raised kids in be half empty . Can’t sell it due to market. So alone half the time in a house full of memeories. Hell, really.

Get a motorcycle (preferably a Moto Guzzi, pet peeve of mine), some badass black leather clothing and don't forget the cool sunglasses to go with it. Proceed to be THE chicks terminator in your area.

Yeah, I was obviously feeling witty writing this. But, there's two pinches of truth in there.

First of all, find something that YOU enjoy. Sounds simple but isn't. Might take some time.

Second, if you're REALLY looking into motorbikes, but NOT into powerbikes, give Guzzi a try.
