How does money judgment work?

Not sure how it is in NY, but in my case in Ca.

We both submitted a financial statement. We had no assets just debts.

My ex tried to claim she had 30k in credit card debt to my 8k. We met with a retired judge the court uses for these arbitration. We both had to provide proof of debt. Added both together and split it. In the end she lied and only had about 10k so I owed her just under 1k. As for property, she didn't want anything. But demanded to be reimbursed for half of my truck and that her bmw was hers. The judge said that no, both are about equal in value so I got my truck and her car is hers.

No alimony since she got remarried a month or so after our divorce, as for child support I owe her 400 a month even though we're 50/50. I make more money than her.

It's enforced by court order. If you don't pay they file with the court saying you're in contempt and the judge reorders you to do it. If you are found in contempt a few times they will fine or arrest you. As for child support the go through you states child support agency and they start garnishing your paycheck. If you fall behind they will put you in arrears which adds interest and penalties. You keep falling behind they put a lien on you and take away your drivers license.

Enforcement is kinda dictated by your ex. They won't really do anything until the ex brings it to the courts attention.

if there is an large change in circumstance you can ask for a recalculation of child support.

I dont even know how mu h credit card debt my soon to be ex has. We always had separate finances. My attorney said I'm not liable for her debt unless she can proof it's for marital purposes. She makes more than I do but never lived within her means. I imagine she has 20k in debt, I have 2k. She owns the house since before we were married so I dont know how they'll settle this. I have an 11 year old Honda that I own outright, she has a 2019 honda she has a loan for. Who knows. She earns more money than I do. I cant imagine I judge bankrupting me to pay her hair salon bills but nothings shocking.

There's no court in any state that will allow her to take 65% of your paycheck.

Who ever makes the money, will always get more. Get that fixed.
