TLDR; My mom's stubbornness will send my dad to jail (for the third time), and make them both homeless. I need help finding the words to get through to her.

I'll try to get to the point:

I REALLY need some advice.

Growing up my mom cheated on my dad with a child rapist, has had addiction to pain pills on and off, has been mentally abusive, and plays up her physical disability to not get a job, blah blah blah.

My dad has always provided for us, made sure we had everything we needed, did activities with us on the weekends, taught us all of our morals (I didn't have that epiphany until recently), and so on.

He is not perfect, but he is the reason I'm a good person.

Anyways, ten years ago they got divorced. Let's say my dad made $100,000 a year. She got awarded alimony for 22 years! So he has to pay for her to live for twelve more years. There was a clause in the alimony document that in a change of his employment, the amount would be re-evaluated. My dad now makes $47,000 a year and the courts won't allow any change. He is scraping by himself let alone having to still pay her a large amount of money.

Because of this my dad has been sent to jail. Twice. He had never been arrested or in trouble with the law in any way, shape, or form. And now he has a record.

Now the courts can't send you to jail for not paying alimony, so they send you to jail for "contempt of court" aka fighting for your right to not have to live in a cardboard box so you can pay for your ex to live, even though they were found guilty of adultery.

In a couple weeks, he may get put into jail for longer, causing him to lose his job and force him to lose his living arrangements.

This also means my mom won't get any income from him and will also not be able to pay for her apartment. She is going to expect to live with me, but I will not allow it. If anyone is going to be living in my house it will be my dad.

I need help! What should I say to get through to her before she ruins both their lives? (It sounds dramatic, I know). If i talk to her aggressively at all she will bear down even harder.

I haven't been able to find the words to really make an impact.
