My wife filed and I responded with hiring a lawyer. I paid a $3,000 retainer and I’m sure she paid something similar. She realized she made a mistake and wants to work things out. I took her back. I told the lawyer to put the divorce on hold after she did the same. I read the contract and it said the retainer was not refundable although she probably did less than 3 hours work. Does that seem right? Collectively we are out a good amount of money that we can certainly use. The good news, I know, is that we are working things out. Also, shame on us for not working out before going the divorce route - an expensive lesson.
