I’m trying to figure out if I should continue to give my ex-wife money in addition to the agreed upon amount of child support. In the divorce agreement, it was arranged that I would pay 60% of day care costs. It has been almost 3 years since the divorce. My ex works from home, so about 1.5 years ago my ex decided to take our daughter out of daycare and keep her at home. I agreed to pay her an amount equal to daycare which would go towards gymnastics lessons, art programs and the like. This fall my daughter started in the public school system. As far as I know, my daughter is not in any programs right now - communication with my ex has broken down. But my ex still expects me to pay her the same amount. Meanwhile I’m going broke. I don’t know what to do. She keeps threatening to take me to court because she thinks my parenting skills are lacking. My daughter lives with her mom but she stays with me every other weekend. I’m thinking about looking for a mediator. I don’t want to go back to court.
