I recently divorced my wife after learning that my she was fucking a coworker and family friend. This man has no honor and I want him to understand that fucking up my life and doing things that hurt my family has consequences. I'm not willing to risk prison or a criminal record by punching him out but I do have an opportunity to make his life difficult, if not completely ruin it.

There's a chance that if I report him to professional ethics board, he could be fined, formally disciplined, and possibly unable to continue his current line of work. I have enough evidence and it wouldn't surprise me if investigations would lead to prood that he was involved with other coworkers/subordinates and possibly customers. I do not think I would feel guilty about that and I could make some weak arguments that reporting him could protect others. However, reporting him could also put my ex-wife at risk for disciplinary measures (not as severe) and likely burn some bridges because it would be obvious who reported him.

What concerns me more than anything is that I need to set a good example for my kids and always thought of myself as above revenge. I'm just angry and tired of people acting like assholes and having no consequences. It's hard not to feel like I'd be walking away from an opportunity to bring some justice and personal acountability into this world.

Is there ever a valid justification for revenge or am I just acting like a bitch and need to move on, rising above the desire for payback? I'm pretty sure I know the answer but am curious what TRP has to say.
