Let's venture a guess and, with your permission, say a thing or two about your mother. She is, of course, a very loving woman. So loving is she, that all through your childhood, she doted upon you, worried about you killing yourself by falling over whilst running too fast, or dying from a mysterious African disease that comes from household surfaces that haven't been sprayed with antiseptic.

She always, deep deep down, saw you as her son, her precious item, and could never genuinely relate to you as to a separate person of your own. Your mother loves you, but in a peculiar way - she has never shown any interest or insight as to your inner world, your aspirations, dreams, fantasies. Almost as if they don't exist, and are not supposed to exist. To her you're her son (her pet), and she is fundamentally afraid of only one thing - losing you. It's a very selfish, very womanly fear. If you become your own man, she loses you - this has to be understood. So you were not allowed to, and had to internalize this docility, this miserable passive mode of existence from a very early age - to both please mom, and to enjoy the safety she offered in exchange.

Mother's one central fear always shone upon you from her eyes, and it irradiated you to the very fucking core. You became deformed inside, something like a tree that is stunted by a metal rail and has to grow in weird crooked ways around the impassable obstacle (your mother's selfish female fear of losing her pet, complete failure to recognize you as your own person & as a future man). Because you never had any words to talk about this deep kind stuff, it was 99% subconscious. And because it's your mother's weird female fears that were so strongly projected upon you, you had absolutely no way to shake them off, they become as if part of you, you adapt by becoming docile, passive and numb - even though they are completely alien, external impositions that have no relevance for you as a grown man.

She didn't do all this stuff because she was especially evil, it's just what many women do on autopilot if left unchecked by the Father. I think you avoid the sex and many things besides sex, because Mother dearest unfortunately fucked you up pretty good.

Sometimes we avoid what we aren't familiar with, or what we are not confident doing.

You'll seem aloof, so if you're any sort of attractive, you'll have plenty of opportunities. What would it hurt to let a woman catch you occasionally? Hell, most of them would even think you're great in bed no matter what - for them it's the successful chase that's great as much as the purely physical part of things.

Meh. I do the same sometimes. I'm 31, lots of partners in my time (more than one per year of my life now!). If my mind isn't already on sex, I might wave off an opportunity... usually just because of logistics ("okay, if I bring clothes over, and leave by...", "Just gotta get her out the door before 6 tomorrow", etc.). And waving off some high-quality sex because of poor planning is pretty weak. :-p

Doesn't mean anything is wrong, though.
