I am struggling to understand the criminality of this. What's criminal for a mother being nude in front of her 7 year old child? There are nude beaches all across Europe, where families are nude together. That doesn't imply any sexual intent toward the child from its mother. It might disturb some people from the middle east. But in countries like Germany, France, Scandinavian countries, this is OK.

I saw my mum and sister naked all the time until I was in my early teens. When we went on holiday we’d all share a room and bathroom even when I was 16. There’s be token “holding this towel vaguely in front of self” stuff but it was never really serious and just that - token.

I’m from Scotland and I know that most of Europe is even more liberal in terms of this. The fact that Americans especially see nudity amongst family members as somehow sexual says more about them than it does those who aren’t weirded out by it. Do you think of your family in a sexual manner? I don’t.

I find it so weird/fascinating that most american people immediately think smth sexual when they see a naked body, even if its family. I can be naked around friends and family and it's fine because they just see a body and not some weird underhanded invitation. So the argument is that this invades the child's privacy and is therefore a form of child abuse.
