Think of the early 2000s (and even late 2000s). All the women who were blacklisted for speaking up when they were being treated inappropriately. All the women with mental health issues being made fun of and shunned. Their careers were ruined and it really wasn't a big issue or discussed much. I'd say those women were basically cancelled in the sense that their careers were ruined and no one would work with them. Now that it's mostly men who's careers are being ruined, there's a lot more outrage and discussion around it. Just a random thought I had after reading another post.
EDIT: This was just a random thought that popped into my head and I wrote it quick. If I had more time to flesh it out, I would've definitely included other minorities.
Also, I'm not necessarily saying cancel culture is a great thing and death to all men! In fact, I didn't even share my feelings on cancel culture as a whole. I just simply stated that once men started to become more of a target, there was a lot more outrage and discussion surrounding the topic.

I can't even think of a single fucking woman whose been canceled other Carano and tons of people came out to support her. Hell, Cancel Disney+ trended on twitter.
Amy Schumer is a rapist and has a career, Katy Perry sexually harrassed people and has a career, Fucking Ellen.
This is such insane gaslighting bullshit that it blows my mind. There is a HEAVY and I mean a HEAVY trend of Misandry in cancel culture. It almost always used as a weapon against men.
[–]shit-zen-giggles 11 points12 points13 points (2 children) | Copy Link
Lauren Southern would come to mind.
And then there is J.K. Rowling.
but both of these were well after the time frame the original author stated (2000's)

[–]VulgarGenes 5 points6 points7 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah women get thrown into meat grinders. WW1 WW2 I could go on. It wasn’t men who fought em... but women, it wasn’t men who were later looked down upon because of their disability but women... men from WW1 didn’t want to marry women veterans because they lost an eye, arm or leg. Women children and old folks have always been the collateral but young men have always been used as disposable resource in times of war

That sub is pure cancer, let’s just vow to never visit it again, let the lunatics rant about whatever they want

That sub is just fucked up. You read a few lines and you go, 'are they being serious?', to 'my fucking god they are serious'. The mental gymnastics is definitely out of this world.

Could say the same for all these subs if you want. Difference is if you you posted that on the feminist sub-reddit you would be banned straight away (trust me). Least everyone can voice their opinions here.

Aziz Ansari had a bad date and his career hasn’t recovered fully.
New York Times writer Glen Thrush leaned in for a kiss with young women who wanted to go out to drinks with him. That’s it. That got him suspended. He has disappeared from TV appearances ever since.
I could go on.

TwoXChromosomes 10k+ upvote post writing guide:
1.) Select an issue.
2.) Frame it as something that women suffer more from, whether or not that's true.
3.) Present no evidence other than ranting about how you feel.
4.) Declare it sexism and say that men just don't understand.

3. bUt MAh fEeLinGsssss
Exactly spot on. And when presented with logic, facts abd evidence, or any shred of doubt that is not screaming together with their eco chamber, you'll get banned right away. Fucking misandry at it's best
[–]themolestedsliver 2 points3 points4 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. "They were venting!" Is apparently a perfect excuse for being sexist against men but having frank conversations about feminism is indicative of us "hating women".
The mental gymnastics those subs employ could win gold medals.

When I first read this I was angry but I think the important thing to take away here is that these people aren't using logic. These people are basing their opinions on misplaced emotions.
[–]LettuceBeGrateful 5 points6 points7 points (2 children) | Copy Link
Uhhh, weren't they cancelling an entire race in the 1950's? God I'm not even conservative but the anti-right wing circlejerk on reddit is ridiculous.
[–]thereslcjg2000 3 points4 points5 points (1 child) | Copy Link
Are these people legitimately unaware that gay/minority men were far more harshly punished than women? Or that premarital sex was seen as sinful regardless of what gender you were?
[–]themolestedsliver 5 points6 points7 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Or how black men were the primary target for lynching and how white women would blame their affair on the black men in town and how they raped her so they can "justify" the lynching.

I understand her point and she's misguided. She claims that women have been cancelled for "resisting" harassment. I'm guessing that's true to an extent. I also think that many men have also been cancelled for similar. Since men have dominated the workforce in the past. I suspect many more men have been "cancelled" (lost jobs) than women. Union organizers would be a prime example.
The biggest differences between men and women now is that men who have behaved badly in the past are being held to account at much greater rates than women who have exhibited bad behavior. The only women I remember getting cancelled was Asia Argento and that was one company Netflix pulling TV episodes she made with her boyfriend. I doubt that was the sum total of her career. Even Kelly Brook who admitted to abusing multiple past boyfriends didn't lose her book deal, Sketchers endorsement, or TV show.

Cancel Culture isnt worse for women, it's a genuine female trait in and of itself... its what women have been doing to eachother for most of human history... it's a modern evolution of that age old trait of women: bullying...
Cancel Culture and Deplatforming is just the female and feminists form of bullying tactics... it's like a school playground... when the boys fell out with eachother in the playground, they'd end up hitting eachother and then it would be over and done with... if they fell out with a girl, they'd walk away and try to avoid the situation... when the girls fell out with ANYONE on the other hand, they used isolation, silent treatment, destruction of reputation, threats, doxing and lies to try and make everyone else isolate the person in question and its NEVER over... I had multiple 'hate campaigns' run against me at school, all done by groups of girls who would spend their free time following me around so that they could identify people who were still ok with me... they'd then corner them, surround them en masse and bad mouth me to anyone who dared speak to me, even going so far as to bribe and/or threaten them until they agreed to avoid me entirely... luckily, I was liked enough in school that it never worked on me 100% of the time so I still had friends regardless... a good example being I broke up with a girl called Sarah at 15 years old... as soon as I did, her friends started a venemous hate campaign against me ran by a girl called Dani... I'm almost 40 now and Dani along with a few of her friends still to this day run this hate campaign against me that they started at school at 15 years old... it truly is pathetic...
women might be affected more personally by cancel culture because they cannot live without validation, place so much emphasis on reputation, wealth and social position and because they know exactly what cancel culture actually is where as men are content to be alone, hold their own value, and deal with what life throws at them so that form of bullying doesnt have anywhere near as much destructive force to them... I think personally, that's why men are more confused than anything when it happens for virtually no reason and women are more terrified of it...
what does everyone else think?

First thing I do when I make a new reddit account is get banned from r/feminism and r/twoX
[–]Sephir-7 -5 points-4 points-3 points (11 children) | Copy Link
I read the post, they are not talking about the current cancel culture but about what happened until the 2010'. And it hurts to say that but their not 100% wrong, men did suffer from cancel culture prior to 2010 but that was probably worse for women. On the other hand time didn't stop in 2010 and since then the idea of ignoring people became entirely against men.
Also their wording is wrong, cancel culture is something new, it's what feminist (among others) use currently. Before that there was people banished for what they said but it was not a "culture".
[–]bufedad 1 point2 points3 points (10 children) | Copy Link
Based on what?
[–]Sephir-7 -2 points-1 points0 points (9 children) | Copy Link
The "probably" allows me to be based on nothing but still I was mainly referring to Hollywood and I heard about more women from this period then men.
"heard" is not proof I agree but I said "probably" which means I'm not sure
[–]bufedad 2 points3 points4 points (8 children) | Copy Link
So, based on absolutely nothing other than your greater empathy for women.
[–]Sephir-7 0 points1 point2 points (7 children) | Copy Link
Ah yes, you can't have an opinion different from yours without being manipulated, great way of thinking. Lol. Also based on what do you assume that I feel that way because of my empathy for women? The fact that I heard about more women in this situation in that time period has nothing to do with empathy does it?
Anyway it doesn't seem useful to answer you, it's obvious you are just looking for a fight, you don't argue you just want to say that other are wrong to feel better about yourself. If it's not the case you should consider showing your opinion (if you have one which I doubt) it's the first step of every proper debate..
[–]bufedad 0 points1 point2 points (6 children) | Copy Link
Manipulated? That's an interesting choice of strawmen.
Your greater empathy for women is entirely your own, no outside manipulation necessary.
Both men and women (of ever culture studied) have a greater empathy for women than for men.
It's interesting that you chose to strawman rather than discuss the problem of you having greater empathy for women...
[–]Sephir-7 -1 points0 points1 point (5 children) | Copy Link
You might want to read the comment you responded to and your response because you appear to be toxic or at least "inefficient". You just want to argue with someone because you are bored, you didn't answer anything I said, you didn't. And you took one word and thought "could I argue with that word? Yeah it might have been used where it shouldn't have let's only talk about that"
Also, clear thinking (and the truth) can be manipulated by emotions or empathy. If you only wish to find something to critize you could have found better really..
[–]bufedad 0 points1 point2 points (4 children) | Copy Link
Derailing rather than addressing your biases... unsurprising.
[–]Sephir-7 -2 points-1 points0 points (3 children) | Copy Link
Oh come on! How am I the one to derail? Even you first comment wasn't really a answer to what I said..
Anyway what do you want me to tell you about my biases? Of course I have some, like you said it's for everyone. But why are you talking about that? I could be the most empathic person for woman yet it would only alter the way perceive each case it wouldn't change the fact that I heard and read about more women being "canceled" than men during this specific time period.
Once again I would like to remind you that you never answered to anything I asked. And that one again there is no argument, point or opinion in what you said
[–]bufedad 0 points1 point2 points (2 children) | Copy Link
More derailing to avoid addressing your bias.
