Same reason I care about any rights. I care about people. I cared for women to have he same rights as men for years and I did ignore men.

I’m a man, but honestly it’s not as selfish as that. I care for myself but above all I care for the men in my life just like I care about the women in my life. Men need spaces to talk among themselves. Imagine them discussing this with people at work or women they would be declared toxic or crazy. I have been told as much even though what I said wasn’t sexist it’s seen as that because surely men don’t need to worry about it right?

Thing is that we do and it’s not men that are telling us that. It’s our own mother’s and families saying man up and stop your whining. I’m an egalitarian when it comes to legal concerns and family rights.

When it really boils down to it as to why I care: family rights. Children. That’s the foundation I suppose every thing else is built on that. From money to crime.

I'm a father, and I'd like to have equal parenting rights ( I don't expect to divorce my wife any time soon, but if that day ever comes, I'd like to not worry about seeing my children)

I'm a rape victim, and I'd like my rapist to be considered a rapist.

I have two sons, and would like them to be treated equally to women in society and under the law.

Ususally we were wronged by a woman, but the feeling of oppression didn't come from that woman. Oppressed feeling came from the tradcons and feminists that put forth laws, formal public policies, informal public policies, and narratives that men are monsters, women are wonderful, and all mens problems are mens fault. That enabled the woman to get away with it and/or prevented us from having any support because of our sex. Our situations would often be drastically different if our sexes were reversed.

A woman accused a man without evidence and he gets arrested? No issues there?

The court award custody to women disproportionately. Everything alright there for you?

Spousal abuse. Hundreds if not thousands of shelter for women and less than a handful for men. That’s equality?

There are lower number of men getting higher education and not a single MSM covers it and somehow women are at disadvantage. Nothing to see here?

It doesn’t seem right to have so much focus in blaming men and treat them as dispensable commodity. And glorify everything women does and amplify their voices when complains about men.

The suicide rate for men are increasing, yet no one seem to care. No space is given for men to discuss issues they face.

Your claim that “not doubting men are oppressed in some ways” is blatantly false when you follow it with the question “why/what makes this a big enough issue.”

Base on that, you either don’t know what oppression is or you don’t think oppression is serious issue or you’re one of the oppressors.

A person who doesn’t recognize oppression is a person benefiting from oppression.

Regarding the grievances bit, men don't really have any other place to talk about this stuff. Society scoffs at the notion that men could face discrimination, and even many men in our lives dismiss men's issues, simply because we were raised to see only women's issues.

When a man is falsely accused, or destroyed by family courts, or arrested despite the fact that his girlfriend was the abuser...where else are these men supposed to go to be heard?

Have you ever found yourself alone in the woods at night with half a bottle of vodka in one hand, a handgun in the other, and all the rage in the world coursing through your veins screaming at you to end it?

Story time:

My life was destroyed by a combination of an unethical woman, a corrupt system, and a misandrist society.

I had a good life; a decent job, a nice house, a car, a boat, money in the bank, a retirement account... not bad for a 25-year-old. It had taken a lot of work to get there, especially for a high-school dropout with a major learning disability.

I got engaged to a woman that I had known for 10 years. I knew her family, went to school with her brother, even helped them raise a barn. She moved in with me and we started planning a life: A new car for her, vacations she wanted to go on, things to do before we had kids, that kind of thing.

Then she turned up pregnant, despite supposedly being on birth control, and promptly moved out, refusing to speak to me. It turned out that she had lied about birth control, didn't want to marry me, but just wanted a kid and my money.

She had her family deal with me; she wanted me to pay for everything, but also to sign over all rights to our child and never have anything to do with them, and threatened to ruin me if I refused.

I refused, and she ruined me.

First, she went to the police and filed a domestic violence complaint against me. Despite there being no evidence, and her having not lived with me for 6 months at this point, they believed her, and started harassing me, to the extent of trying to frame me for a felony, which I only got out of because they were idiots and I am not (I didn't give them an alibi when they asked, so they were not prepared to undermine it in court).

Second, she went to the child support company to file for prenatal support, and told them that I was a violently abusive, drug-dealing Satan-worshipper. I was none of these things, but that convinced them to do things like cancel my state licenses, which got me fired from my job, and file so many motions in court that I ran out of money to pay my lawyers, and when I turned up to a meeting with the child support company without them, I was taken into a back room, threatened and assaulted.

Third, she gave birth and promptly moved across the state. 3 hours each way if I wanted to see my daughter, and if I didn't, it was evidence that I wasn't interested and she could file to remove my rights (not that I had many to begin with, since we weren't married).

Everyone took her side; the courts, the child support company, her family, my family, my employers, random people I ran into on the street... and it kept going. They are still harassing me; I just started a new job, and they have already made 5 motions to increase child support, backdate it 18 months, jail me for being behind, suspend my driver's license, and sign my daughter up for the most expensive insurance my company offers, which is more than I make.

I went from junior executive to blue collar work (which is how they justify charging me so much child support; "imputed income"). All my friends abandoned me. I lost my house and lived out of my car for several years. I did wind up in criminal activity, as the only way to make enough money to survive. I literally went blind in one eye from the stress, and had a heart attack at 33, despite being fit and having no family history of heart problems.

Passionate? I am more than "passionate" on this subject.

I am really passionate about this because I have directly been affected by discrimination when I was falsely accused and nearly lost £700 i spent on a school trip because of the lies. You feel that way because you are ignorant and have swallowed the feminist propaganda. The very fact that you think that in a world where men are more oppressed shows the need men have to be helped by a fair and moral society.

Also that fact that you focus on grievances is misandry. You can basically go on just about any social media on the internet and you will find it littered with grievances so the fact you are trying to direct an insult towards this sub for something that is common place practically everywhere else is both unfair and not credible.

The reason why women get a lot of focus here is again because society is so hateful towards men we do not have the freedom to critique woman in other places so this becomes a place to come to bring up those issues. On the other hand anybody is free to complain about men anywhere so we don't need to hold those in we can make those complaints anywhere.

Eh, this is the feminist gender war bullshit. Neither gender oppresses the other. Gender roles formed as a means of survival, nothing else. Women aren't oppressing men, and men aren't oppressing women. Neither have ever oppressed the other.

What we see today, however, is a general demonizing of men in the media.

We see women escaping their gender roles, and men's gender roles continuing to be enforced.

Men are starting to see no value in their gender roles.

And those men are being shamed (mostly by feminists) for abandoning their gender roles.

[There was an article a couple of years ago about a woman arguing with a man on the subway (I think in London). The man had an aggressive posture. Two men entered the car from another car, saw what was going on, turned around, and left. The article was about how disgusting it was that those men didn't put their safety on the line for her]

If the demonization of men, and unfair legal imbalances continue, men will abandon their gender roles completely, and that will be a very hard time to be a woman.

Just remembered Seven Samurais by Akira Kurosawa.

I think this is an archetypical film about masculinity.

Seven Samurais are mobilized for the good cause of protecting a defenceless village against bandits.

The succed but at the cost of four of them. And when the danger is over, the villagers shy away from rewarding and acknowleding their contribution.

What’s missing are angry japanese women blaming the three survivors for their violent behavior and unfair patriarchal rewards.

It’s easy for feminists to blame men in an abundant and well regulated (safe) society built on the backs of mens sacrifices.

However should this abundance perish due to men disengaging and stopping being so damn productive this might affect the foundation of a good society and the future for coming generations.

that's just what the mods force it to exist as, gynocentric men's rights archivists, not egalitarian men's rights activists. Any sort of activism might inconvenience the goddesses.

The place has never been threatened by admin, am i wrong? To my knowledge this sub has never been sanctioned - but the mods use the specter of admin to one up each other in the gynocentric suppression of their activism focused or rights focused members.

I, too, wonder about some of things posted here and mens rights in general. There are legitimate issues that should be addressed. However, I do think a number of these issues are self-inflicted. Not by the current generation of men, but by our long standing history. A number of our issues stem from our forefathers attitude towards emotion. That men need to be strong and being strong means you do not need help (take the whole bootstrap mentality for example). Not having shelters catering to our needs, not being taken seriously when speaking about sexual violence (which is still pervasive among feminists, though not all).

However, I often feel that MRA's act as though this is a competition and try to equalize things. We can discuss issues without having to compare them. We can discuss male sexual assault without trying to equalize it for example. We can discuss domestic violence without it being a silencing tactic.
