Hi! I've been lurking around for a week or so now and I've finally got up the gumption to ask a question.

I've been raised that men are the head of the household and that's what my husband and I agreed on when I got married. But today while I was cleaning the bedroom I ran into a pretty common problem - I had no idea where to put the clean clothes in his dresser because it isn't organized at all and I couldn't clean off his night stand because it was covered in receipts that he might still need.

Usually, I just set the clothes on the end of the bed so he can put them away (which he usually doesn't) and leave the nightstand alone but the room isn't clean when I do that and it really grinds my gears.

Should I be able to tell him not to wear his shoes in the apartment after he gets home? To put his dirty dishes in the sink? (He doesn't have to wash them, but not leaving them in the living room would be fantastic.) Or to put his dirty clothes in the hamper so they aren't scattered all over the floor?

We're both new to both living together and marriage and we're trying to get off on the right foot.

Thank you kindly.
