Throughout the course of marriage, conflicts are going to happen. I have read through many posts and have seen many that discuss how NOT to handle this. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on the appropriate way to respond to a disagreement. My husband is not always right simply by virtue of being a man, and pretending otherwise is only going to build resentment for me. Maybe there are women who can handle this silently, but that is not me. I understand that there are many things that I need to let go of and not nag about, and that's something I'm working on. But there are sometimes issues that are negatively impacting our marriage and simply need to be brought up. Current example from my life: I suffer from horrible insomnia. My husband gets home late from work and wakes me when he comes in. No big deal as the front door wakes me up and he can't make it any more quiet. I have, however, explained to him that I am unable to fall back asleep until he comes to bed because he wakes me up when he comes in no matter how quiet he is. I can usually fall back asleep after being woken once, but by the time he wakes me twice I might as well get up and fix some coffee at 3 am because I'm done for. He will frequently stay out on the computer for sometimes hours. I try nicely asking him to come bed, explaining without being accusatory that I can't sleep until he comes to bed, but he still spends hours. This is negatively affecting my health and mental wellbeing, and has now led to me feeling very resentful and angry and it is increasingly difficult for me not to react with anger. He has a laptop that he could easily use in the bedroom, and a smart phone that he could be using to browse the Internet. How can I handle situations like this??? Nagging and acting bitchy is clearly not the way to go, but damn, something needs to change.

EDIT Computer room is also living room, so I can't sleep on the couch. He prefers not to sleep on the couch, or apart for that matter. I do not demand he spend every waking moment with me, and he has a lot of time to himself. In fact we see each other only an hour each day during the week. Our apartment is just too darn small for us to have our own separate spaces. While this specific situation has been a problem, I am mainly wondering about dealing with conflicts in general.

EDIT 2 Tried u/sugarcrush's advice and put it simply to work out a solution. He has said that he doesn't mind taking his sleep aids earlier so that can come to bed as soon as he gets home (midnight), and requested that I tell him what time I want to go to bed each night so that he can decide to either take his sleeping pill at the appropriate time to come to bed with me or sleep on the couch if he wants to stay up late. I appreciate all of the input and enjoy getting the insight from outside perspectives.
