I’m kind of pissed at the relative. If she thought that the son was being held captive, why didn’t she call the police and file a report?

Just Googled this, it seems most of the major Uk news outlets (Sky, Independent, etc) are covering it but nothing on the BBC.

Is carrying such a story to close to a criticism of women/motherhood for the UK’s “woke” news corporation?

I hope the authorities don’t fail him now.

I hope they will rehabilitate him to hopefully have some semblance of a normal life.

I fear that because he is a white male they will not do as much as they would for a female.

Let’s see what kind of community service if any his mother will get in due course.

Disturbing! This makes me think of 1933 novel 'The werewolf of Paris'. There's an embedded narrative in the book we're in man is imprisoned in dark pit, and conditioned, through starvation, to howls for his food. The man survives decades in the state, and his abuser convinces friends and visitors that he has an actual wolf in the pit, whose howls are occasionally heard.

I have heard nothing about it in New Zealand. If it was a man who did this it would be on everyday for a week. New Zealand television never misses an excuse to run down men.
