Where did the idea that men can't hit women come from?

It used to be because of gender roles so men had the gender role of never hitting a woman even if she hit them but now that gender roles are over that doesnt apply anymore.

I was brought up that way. I can recall an older brother getting into a fight with a bully who was a girl. She punched him and he just took it. Hitting a woman just wasn't done - he later told me. Anyway, feminism has changed the game. A lot of guys need to realize that. Now you can hit back with equal force to defend yourself.

I actually don't think it's usually justified to respond with force as a man. I'm a very small (nonbinary) guy, but even I can probably take on multiple women at once. I think your in a position of power, so you need to exercise responsibility. Just because your technically (and legally) able to sucker punch a 90 ib 5'1" girl doesn't mean you should. When I see videos of this happening it makes me exceptionally angry, actually.

However, in circumstances that are particularly adverse, where a woman is actually exercising harm on the victim, I think self-defense is absolutely justified.

If a woman hits me I am likely to be able to restrain her without hitting her so why resort to that?

Had a woman hit me who was like 5"2 and skinny. I just grabbed her wrists and told her to calm down. It would have been unnecessary for me to hit her back when I could physically prevent violence just through size advantage.

However if Ronda Rousey hits me I'm likely to be knocked out! If I am still standing and cant run away I will fight back with everything I have as it's my only option. And would still get my ass kicked.

Misogyny. Because “back then” women were men’s properties(this is back in the old day, when first way true feminism was needed). And you don’t ever hit another mans property.

Heck, the whole “you never ever hit a woman under any circumstances” is deeply rooted in misogyny anyway. These feminists and simps are unknowingly saying that women are weaker than men which defeats their whole narrative of equality.
