Given she's a woman, it's quite a decent sentence. It's very unusual for women to be sent to prison at all and usually they get a suspended sentence for something like this.

Don't even get me started on what would happen to a man if he were to do this.

Well, it turns out if you rob more than $950 dollars, not $949 dollars, you go to prison. Anything bellow that, you only serve jail time.

There are exempts to this though, as my professor said laughing, if you steal a dog; YOU GO TO PRISON. Butttt.... if you steal a cat, well, nobody cares about cats so you go to jail. That’s just how the law works. They are dog people.
