Logs of the threads in question
"Brief" description of the links
A user asked [a male subreddit] what their reaction would be if their SO began cross-dressing, and most men responded as we'd expect them to; they replied that they found masculine features (short hair, baggy clothing, deep voice) to be unattractive and that this would be a break-up worthy change. They also confessed to giving empty compliments to female friends who cut their hair short since it was just a temporary change.
However, these responses (specifically the ones about short hair) shocked some BP men and one BP woman in particular, who is the focus of the logged [a male subreddit] thread. She began arguing with the men about how everyone was being disrespectful for calling short hair "boyish" and "hating" short-haired women for voicing their opinions. Unsurprisingly, it turns out that she herself has very short hair.
Her "hamstering" also drew the attention of the SRD-folks, who in the above-logged thread started congratulating themselves on not being shallow for liking women with short-hair or shaved-heads, complaining that the men in [a male subreddit] were sexist and that TRP is invading [a male subreddit] at a whopping 10% overlap rate.
My thoughts
I found it quite shocking how much "hamstering" was going on in both threads from both BP men and women. Something we have learned to be a simple truth is to them somehow worthy of an 800+ comment thread on whether having a preference is "sexist", whining that such preferences are rude/sad/whatever, or patting others on the back for being too lazy to maintain their hair. I've never seen such a large, defensive lot of "but the FEELS" people before, but I guess I haven't been paying enough attention to Reddit comments.
It's become increasingly clear to me that the BP people on Reddit are both very divorced from the mainstream sexual/relationship marketplace and hopelessly idealistic.
Would it be nice if no one had preferences and everyone could be attracted to everyone else? Maybe, but that's not how the real world is. You can't just rally against biology and society in an effort to force everyone to cater to your spoiled whining about things not being fair, and yet that's exactly what these people do.
I just don't get it.
I made some edits to comply with the rules. Sorry about that!
