Cute article. Perhaps I should write one about the benefits of being with an older man in your 20s, lol--I'm 22, my fiance is 35, and even though most people can't understand how we have anything in common, I couldn't imagine a more perfect match for me than him.

I personally think college is the right time to search for a LTR. Fucking around makes very few women happy, and I would know, as I was rather promiscuous during high school and my early college years. Meeting my fiance was the best thing to ever happen to me--if I hadn't, I'm sure I would still be fucking around and trying to convince myself that I wasn't actually miserable.

I thought the article was sweet. But I'm still hesitant to encourage young women (18-22) to rush into a relationship before they've discovered what makes a "good man" for them. I know that 18-22, is barely in the 20's but I got the feeling that this article was aimed at college aged girls.

I think women should date (which does not mean fuck in this case) around during college, and have a good idea of exactly what they want (and perhaps found it) by the time they graduate.

Enjoyed this I feel like there's so much emphasis placed on being independent when you're young... it used to make me feel bad, because while I'm capable of entertaining myself, I am much happier with my husband, and any experience I could have alone (or even with friends for the most part) is enriched having him with me.

I think that being a little dependent is OK, and girls like me who get married early because they find that partner and are happy shouldn't be accused of wasting time that we "should" be spending alone/having flings/whatever.

I thought my parents would be upset and try to talk me out of it when I got married at 23. I was previously told that if I got married before 27 I would be "cut off" and have to pay for everything by myself and essentially not count on them for any kind of support, financially or emotionally. Luckily they love my husband and had zero reservations about our marriage.

I don't remember which point it was, but I particularly like knowing that we are growing together. He's changed so much since we first started dating, and I love watching him grow into a stronger and more confident man.

I would also say I have more experiences than some of my single friends, because I wouldn't want to travel abroad on my own or experience a whole lot of new adventures. I love having a partner by my side.

I don't like that she said you can still (essentially) have all the fun of a single lady. I guess you can, but I couldn't imagine having a good time going on big adventures without my husband, and what is ladies' night but an excuse to go out and feel better about yourself by getting ogled by random dudes? I don't really think you should be trying to have the same experiences a single person would if you're in a relationship. I feel like that's a stone's throw from delving off into some big ol' fat hamster territory. That was a crap point, but overall a pretty decent list.

RP says men are the gatekeepers of commitment and women are the gatekeepers of sex. In the past this meant a man would exchange marriage for the privilege of sex with a (virgin) woman. But today women give sex more freely and the terms of a man's commitment are looser. Where's the balance for men and women today?
