You don't need a reason for bad people to do bad stuff. I've experienced stuff like that, it's common. There are enough reasons as to why there is a dress code, my mother would've never let me worn leggings as pants to school. Some stuff you do only gets bad attention, and we don't stand still to think about it. While I am sure that harassment is common for girls/women .. I'm also very sure that boys/men too get harassed (it's just not talked about it that much).

There are enough reasons as to why there is a dress code

Well, it's not that long ago humility and modesty were considered positive qualities.

[–]nitamadee 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It still is for me, and I think a lot of people would still agree. All because showing skin is now a trend, I hope we move on to a more modest trend soon. I feel bad for all the kids who feel like they need to show more, to feel better about themselves.

On her first day of high school my daughter was all dressed up in short shorts, a tank top and knee high stockings. I asked her to change her clothes to something more fitting for a learning environment and to just "feel out" how others are dressing at school. She did. She dresses much more conservative now.

"Don't tell girls what to wear, teach boys not to stare"

Nonsense.

How you dress is how you project yourself. People judge us by how we talk, how we act and how we dress. Choose your words carefully, choose your actions carefully, and choose your clothes carefully.

You are being judged whether you like it or not. And the opinions of others do matter.

Totally agree with that, young kids should be taught this instead of letting them do whatever.

What?

[–]wigglypuff12 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Oh god I'm so sorry! Its late and I didn't check what I wrote! What I mean was that do they honestly think that all males want to sexually harrass women and that men probably don't appreciate woman staring and chatting them up either

[–]qemist -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is an interesting question but a bit late here.

[–]thereslcjg2000 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The majority of these are more about her feeling like no one will help her than actual experiences.

[–]wigglypuff12 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Ah yes you are correct now that I reread it

[–]runthereszombies 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You seem to think women don't get harassed... especially if you live in a city sexual harassment is a daily thing. Guys following you into the subway station, into stores, down the street, etc. Will say disgusting shit that's so bad that the guy who works the counter is visibly uncomfortable and you feel the need to be on the phone with someone just in case he tries to follow you home. When you ignore them they call you a whore and get in your face. Doesn't matter what you look like or what you're wearing. I've been sexually harassed wearing sweats. Men are bigger and will make you feel scared.

If you dont sexually harass women, good on you. But don't assume it doesn't happen all the time because it does.

This sub don’t understand that both genders can I have problems

[–]dzkrf 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Tl;dr

Whenever I see a wall of text like that I assume the writer has issues.

[–]wigglypuff12 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, it honestly makes things so difficult to read at times

[–]Darrkelite 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What do I think?

I think this has nothing to do with Men's Rights and is just an excuse to bash feminism.

[–]wigglypuff12 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh god no that's not how I meant it to come across! I'm really sorry you felt it did! I was a feminist, I once thought a very similar mindset, it was posts like this that started to turn me toxic. I'm not trying to say that none of this happens to a woman because I know that's incorrect. Honestly when I posted this I was a bit fired up because of some comments, it was pathetic of me and I should of thought and calmed down before posting it.

A series of minor events over a quarter of a century. Most blokes have far, far worse stories to tell than these. Not to justify any of it, but if she thinks she has done it hard because she is a woman, she is completely wrong.

[–]freedom2b2t 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The thing I never really understood is why some of these lady’s don’t report being attacked or sexually assaulted? Now about the school thing? What school in hell would do that. A guy at my school broke up with his gf and told the school he assaulted her and he got expelled until it was found out she was lying, no school would ever punish a female for saying he was grabbed on the ass....

[–]kepz3 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Not everyone believes all women, more conservative places do nothing about it usually

[–]freedom2b2t 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well you are right, I live in about 40/60 county and we do believe all woman

[–]wigglypuff12 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Sometimes woman are scared of how people would perceive them, in school it would probably be terrifying having a whole institute know what happened too you.

[–]goldenjuniper -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

I'm certainly not going to say that women don't have a fuck ton of adversity to overcome in life. Least of which is being sexualized at a very young age.

Hell, I even think feminism is a good resource to help women with these issues.

But feminism overall is rife with half truths and outright lies. It leads women down a victim hole where they start seeing every encounter through the lens of the oppressed and twist normal, everyday interactions as oppression. Feminists see equal treatment as misogyny.

It would be great if feminism could work on legitimate problems that women face without the false narrative of being oppressed by the patriarchy. That bullshit isn't necessary to tackle sexual assault.

[–]bufedad 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Hell, I even think feminism is a good resource to help women with these issues.

Feminism isn't designed to help, only to ensure women feel victimized

[–]goldenjuniper 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

That's just not true.

While yes, feminists are mired in an endless victim mentality, it's simply unfair to say it doesn't help women.

This is no different than feminists saying, "MRAs only complain about feminism".

[–]bufedad -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Facts cannot be unfair.

[–]goldenjuniper 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Your opinion is not a fact.

You're really going to die on this hill that not a single woman has been helped by feminism??

[–]bufedad 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If I can find a single Jew helped by Nazi Germany does that make it a helpful movement for Jews

[–]goldenjuniper -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Feminists aren't nazis.

[–]bufedad 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And?

[–]kurkurkurkurkurkurku -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists have victim complex spread this

[–]qemist -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

For people who hate sexual attention women seem to invest a great deal in attracting it.
