While I don't condone the full force punch, I do understand how his mindset was probably in the "end the threat mode". Really wish we had more past the start of the video. It looks like he was trying to break something up, but it also looked like his wife and small child were backed into a corner. No clue if it originally started with them surrounding the family or he simply tried to break up a teen scuffle.

Either way, I hope the teenagers learned a valuable lesson from this. Just because it's frowned upon or seen as something truly awful, doesn't mean a full grown man won't lay you out if you start assaulting them( putting your hands on a stranger with the intent to do harm is assault, regardless of the force behind it). I know, I know, it was just a 12 year old, but assault is assault and while his response was clearly overkill, it ended the entire confrontation. The initial shove he gave to her after being assaulted was obviously the warning that an older person would understand when you lose roughly 10 feet of ground from a shove. But being a child, and clearly brought up with less than stellar common sense, I can't really put all the blame on her. There was clearly a parenting failure somewhere along the line.

I was always told "if you start something, don't be surprised if someone else finishes it".

Hopefully the kid came out with minor injuries and a lifelong lesson about assaulting someone 3 times your size.
