There was an interesting study about this a while back. They had average looking guys approach a women right after she was turned down by a high status guy. You would think she'd be more receptive of the average guy, but in fact they found the exact opposite. The cognitive distress of getting turned down by a high quality guy causes women to seek "revenge" on the average guy who approaches her in an attempt to boost her ego, and signal to the group that she is higher status than she actually is in reality.

High School dating isn't really experience. As someone who's dated in and out of HS, it's way different. HS dating is is just all about looks and status (and sex) for a lot of the girls, while once you get out of school there's way more girls who actually care about your personality and confidence. Not to mention like 99 percent of HS relationships last like 2 months. If you're worried about having "zero experience", there's plenty of YouTube tutorials on how to build confidence, keep up with hygiene, finding a clothing style that suits you, etc.

I don't have any proof, but iv had the same core groups of close friends for a long time, some people come and go, but only because people move away or life changes. Arguments usually get resolved or just moved on from.
I am friends with a few women and have had girlfriends and a sister, and there friend groups all seem to change totally somewhat regularly, when a big fight happens, it ends the friendship and they move on. Just seems to come from the differerence in how conflict is handled.

Confidence is key, knowing how to dress is great aswell, having friends that are girls that give you pointers is also a great advantage. I do get what you're saying, but its an effort you have to consciously make. Keep your self esteem in check (cause its super attractive), have a good body (It will be healthy and keep your self esteem up if you like your body) thigns like that. Im pretty sure guys that are ugly and 'confident' think of confidence as something you portray to your relationships as a way of getting something out of the other person. I havent met much and my scope is limited (reddit is the source of info which is heavily skewed).
