How do you respond to the notion that men should never hit women, even in self-defense?

Best practice in violent confrontations is not a gender issue. Self-defence, in my jurisdiction, means only enough force to defend yourself, no more.

In any case, the argument that men should never hit a woman, even in self-defence, is the same argument that women should be able to kill men without physical repercussions.

I think people should make a note of this hypocrisy because they constantly claim that women are capable of doing the same physical stuff as men when it comes to sports and work. Yet when they have to face consequences for their actions they immediately flip their positions and go "Oh woe is me! I'm just a poor defenceless girl you evil misogynist how dare you do even suggest that!". Feminists have about as much consistency on their viewpoints with topics they supposedly care about as a career politician.

This is something I would bring up frequently, rather than bother arguing with their bullshit point out their hypocrisy and you win. It's like with the whole concept of 'male privilege' and the amount of times these turds are from rich white gated communities. You don't argue on their terms and this is why I have noticed that even quite aggressive feminists seem to be avoiding these topics with me.

I play it by ear. In principle nobody should hit anybody. However I have in-practice taken a blow to the head because it was intended to be playful. If the intention was to cause me harm then I would have told her to leave or called the police. I believe everyone should do the same male or female. Partner violence has a long history usually. It's not something that happens on the first date. You don't meet at starbucks and after you pay for her mochahino she starts stabbing you. It's not like that at all. If your girl feels like she can smack you in the head for "being an idiot". Be gone. If she thinks she can get angry with you and your feelings don't matter. Take off. It's that simple. Don't stick around to find out how bad it can get when it's already unacceptable.

I've only hit a woman, or girl, twice, once in school, she asked me to kick her(weird, i know, still have no idea why) i confirmed with her three times, then i kicked her in the shin, she seemed very surprised.

Second time, i was getting slapped, a lot, after a couple times, i said, if you don't stop, i'll slap you back, she didn't stop, i slapped her, she cried, that was that.

A woman can hurt, even kill a man, if someone comes at you, you have every right to defend yourself, i don't care what genitals the aggressor might have. I consider women equals, and i would treat a man with a knife trying to stab me the same as i would a woman, i'd break their arm to prevent my injury, and in extreme circumstances, kill them, but i hope it will never come to that.

Its partly why i hate it when female rapists and murderers can get no punishment, its not right, its not fair, its not just. Treat everyone as fairly as you can, no matter their race, gender, religion, etc. So many people do not seem to understand that. Over the past decade or so, everything has become extremely tribal, its concerning.

I respond by calling it bullshit.

If gender physical differences are to be recognised, then they should be recognised in computing the wage gap too. Men are stronger so it's justified that they make more money (with all other factors remaining the same).
They don't blink an eye when the same gender physical difference is used for the woman's advantage (carrying heavy stuff, doing strenuous physical labour, participation in police/ military). Then they don't have a right to complain when it's used against them.

If I can remove myself from the situation I would do so. Law and culture are frequently not on a man's side. Barring that use the minimal amount of force needed. Resist the urge to punch/slap/strike back. Instead focus on restraints to subdue so you can leave.

For example while living with my older female cousin years ago we argued and she started slapping me in the face. After the first one I gave her a warning and attempted to leave. She blocked me and started slapping my face in quick succession. I grabbed her arm and twisted it up behind her back and pressed her against the refrigerator. I gave her a final warning and let go and took off before she could gather herself.

If a man hits a woman, it should be socially acceptable for her to hit him back. If a woman hits a man, it should be socially acceptable for him to hit her back. But of course in a better society nobody would hit anybody.

It's men "walking away" that has created this atmosphere that women feel no fear in hitting men. And in a good number of cases, walking away does not end the assault.

Also, there's the idea that the reason men hit women back is because they know they can overpower them. Therefore, it's not self-defense, just further violence, even if the woman initiated it.

Haven't you heard, women are better, smarter and stronger than men in every way, at least so the headlines of mainstream news (BBC: Women are stronger than men) and speeches by ex-Presidents (Obama: Women are indisputably better than men) would have us believe. Hence, maybe you've got it the other way around, as men are the weaker sex, they should be allowed to hit women while women shouldn't ever hit men, as it is not self-defence if a stronger person hits a weaker one.

Serious answer:

Firstly, humans are very squishy things with lots of soft, weak areas and sensitive spots with lots of nerve endings.

No person, man or woman, should be assaulting the another. If you hit someone, even lightly, it is assault. The line is clear - as long as you strike a person, with an appendage or object, it is assault. It shouldn't matter if the person hitting is smaller, shorter and weaker or that receiver is taller, bigger or stronger - the fact is the strike could land in the wrong place at just the wrong time and the person could lose an eye or a finger for example, or have a fractured nose cartilage or be incapacitated with pain due to sensitive nerves in the genital area or suffer hearing loss, etc, there are so many ways that a person could be injured with a hit landing the wrong way which could cause serious injuries it is not even funny.

Also it is wrong to judge by appearances - a small midget could be a black-belt martial artist and appear weaker and smaller than the average human and incapacitate or kill him with the right blow to the right place.

Even a light push or a misplaced foot can throw someone out of balance. Given there are well-documented accidental cases where someone trips or slips and they fall the wrong way and suffers serious injury, some even snapping their neck or hits the back of their head, any light shove has the potential to cause serious injury or death, and these are just accidents, not even an intentional hit. And we have not even gone to the case where objects are used either throwing or using it to strike.

Secondly, it is every person's right to defend themselves if they are being assaulted, regardless of gender. If someone is assaulting you, and your person is being infringed, you have a right to defend yourself.

The extent of what constitutes reasonable force used to defend oneself is up to the courts to determine - if for example, communicated warnings to not infringe on your person are ignored, and you have no avenues to escape the assault, then force can be used to discourage or put distance between yourself and the attacker. If you reasonably believe that your life is under threat, then even deadly force can be used.

Now the reality is that in the western world, in this gynocentric day and age, the Duluth model reigns supreme. Men have been reduced to second class citizens while women are the privileged master class. In these cases, men cannot even use reasonable force to defend or extricate themselves from a situation. We can thank the Feminists and the white knight mangina simps for this current situation.

A woman can be cornering you in the house and stabbing you with a carving knife and you grip her wrists to defend yourself and push her to run out of the house, and the police can and WILL arrest you purely because you are a man. You can be running away and trying to dodge her attacks and if she so much as breaks a nail while trying to cripple you by poking out your eyeballs, you WILL be arrested.

The analogy of men being reduced to second class citizens is too stark. In the olden days of slavery, the slave-masters could freely whip and strike their slaves and the slaves will be punished even more severely if they so much as resisted. In this day and age, women are free to whip and assault men, and men are similarly punished (with arrest and jail) if they resist. Sounds similar? That is because it is.

Men are nothing but disposable slaves to western gynocentric society, (and increasingly to the rest of the world as well, including 3rd world countries).

Women that hit men disgust me. It’s like they’re purposefully trying to instigate the situation when it doesn’t need to get to that point. As a woman, I feel like the moment you put your hands on a man, you just opened the gate for a hit. Every person has the right to defend themselves so using the excuse, you can’t hit a woman, doesn’t fly with me. If you didn’t want to be hit, why did you strike at them?

And to people who say, “Well, a man is stronger and can hurt a woman.” What if she grabs a weapon? What if she hits a trauma spot? Women can be just as deadly as men. Equality bitch.
