With homeless men vastly outnumbering homeless women, the YMCA (Young MEN'S Christian Association) chooses to advertise on Twitter with a story about a homeless woman. Would a women's charity use men this way? Should there be male focused charities to help men who are not getting what they need?

With bonus points for the advert because it vilifies a man.

There is a YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association) that works exclusively for women, so why does the men's association feel that it too needs to work for women too and not focus on the needs of men?

In the UK, where the YMCA was founded, the Patron is The Queen and the Chief Executive is also a woman. Is there anything that is by men, for men, that women don't want to take over and change to their own benefit?

Or is the advert simply cashing in on the fact that the general public will have more sympathy for a female victim, and therefore donate more? What is wrong with society that we need to put the face of a woman on a charity before people will put their hands in their pockets?

I was homeless at 12 after my mom died and my father had a mental break because his now his mother, father, and now his wife were gone within 2 months. I didn't get no fucking handouts... nobody gave me sympathy.. nothing.. homelessness doesn't affect just women...it's horrible that some women are that down on their opportunities but same thing applies to men whether they are soilders who fought for the U.S. a country notorious for how shitty they treat not only soldiers but men in general... homeless is horrible regardless of gender and is something that gets you to see how lowly some people are in terms of how much they give a fuck about their "fellow american".

This is something I've never understood about British society given how we're facing a rampant genuine homeless problem and fake homeless problem in many city centres. I happen to live in one such area and know a lot about it and how they operate. You'd think that everyone would be in favour of men's shelters because not only would it help the genuine homeless it would give the communities the ability to deal with the scam artists that prey on the guilty and easily manipulated.

It just goes to show you how poisonous feminist ideology is and how they're full of shit they are when they try and dismiss men's issues when they talk about it being rare that men go through things the same as women. Even when men are at the absolute top in statistics, dangerously so with suicide, education and homelessness feminists still come up with every excuse to ignore them. I hope people never ever consider giving money to charities like this. It's off topic but I can't help but get reminded of all the fuss about sperm banks barely having any donors and then they thought it was a good idea to shame men in their adverts over it. It's probably only a matter of time before the YMCA will resort to this if their funding starts drying up.

The vast majority of charitable donations are redirected to women and girls, in areas where the number of men needing help vastly out numbers women; e.g. suicide preventon, homelessness, victims of violence to name just a few.

I have given up donating to charities that do not specifically help men. It's the only way to make sure the donations get to those people who are being neglected and silenced by the misandry in our charitable organisations.

Maybe the point of the story is that a 15 yo teenager shouldn't be living in the street? Why do you have to make it a woman/man story...
