Feminists downplays lot of factors which decide your salary. It is because:

Gender Studies doesn't teach them economics and business.
They never work beyond jobs in restaurant, stores and reception where your salary is solely based on number of hours. Well, that's the max job Gender Studies can offer.

Private companies don't work like that. In companies your salary is decided by:

Your work experience in specific field.
Your total work experience in corporate jobs.
Your designation.
What kind of department.
Your qualifications
Your skills
Number of years you have been working in your current company.
Finally, number of hours worked. <== This right here feminists start counting.
Overtime
Performance increment
Allowances (Opted out allowances are added in your monthly salary)

It is unlikely that 2 employees can have exact same factors. Your profile is determined by these factors. Of course companies will pay you more if you are more competent.

Now if you are saying I should pay you same salary just because you work same number of hours for the same work, then you better work in subway.

Instead of relying on sources which are only taking hours to determine salary, use these points in your essay. Hours are the least significant factor in your salary unless you are working third class jobs.

What the underlying push for feminists is that women shouldnt be "penalized" for "choosing" a better work/homelife balance or because they "chose" to have a baby. In other words they dont want equal pay..they want more pay(i.e. same pay for less work).

My view is that the wage gap represents a certain amount of financial privilege that women have over men. Women work less because they can. Men work more because they have to.

The problem isn't that woman earn less, it's that society expects men to share their wealth with women. This creates the dual incentive for women to work easier jobs, while men end up literally working themselves to death (dying 5 years sooner than women and making up 90%+ of workplace fatalities). This happens before children even enter into the picture, since society shoves these ideas down people's throats before they even graduate highschool. Change this expectation that men pay for everything for women, and the wage gap would likely close over night.

An Analysis of Reasons for the Disparity in Wages Between Men and Women. This is the original 2009 report for the Dept. of Labor that kicked off "muh wage gap".

TL;DR: Collectively, male workers are paid more dollars than female workers because male workers work more hours than female workers.

I am pretty certain the pay gap is statistical and accurate. Women will work just as much as men only to make less than men. To assume that either is working harder is a flawed concept anyways. The amount of work we do is usually based on our own personality and goals. Not our gender. However, women do generally work a double day. This means that in many countries women will work a job , because it is necessary in many countries to provide a solid income by both parents, and then come home to service children. Generally studies show that men are less involved in the rearing process because of our social climate an attitudes towards men. This creates a gender paradox and puts men, women, and children in undesirable positions. I think you should be looking at societal values to explain your paper and not just gender. Gender cannot do justice to the complexity of pay gap by any means.

You could discuss the perceived pay gap as a societal repercussion of the earlier fememnist movements and select jobs in which women are making equal pay as men. I am not sure what they would be. Then I would ex0lore the mentality of this pay gap with women who are feminists to support your claim. So you could interview them and refute or argue what they say with articles. I personally think the pay gap does exist and is based on institutional ideas of subordination not gender.
