So much for "women were uniquely oppressed because wife beating used to be legal".

Wife beating has always been illegal but we did pass gender specific domestic violence laws that specifically protected women long before we did men.

In fact, husband beating appears to still be legal in some parts of the world.

Is this confirmed? If so, it would be good to set up a fund for him.

Every goddamn time I hear about some other part of the world, turns out the laws exclusively favor women. The more I see the outside, the more I realize that here in America, we have it best of all. And that's not even that good.

Wife bought clothes instead of buying cooking gas cylinder for her mom with the money for which they started argument.

If a woman did this to me she would burn as well...

Wth! This is life-threatening... If the genders were switched, the arsonist would be jailed, or even sentenced to death.

These archaic laws need to be made gender-neutral. MRAs from Pune, is there a petition to the law commission or a PIL in place?

[–]chintan22 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I think there's already a PIL against 498a, but that has been stalled for years now. Current government has been removing old and archaic laws including 377 so if this gains some traction, something may happen, but not rn because we're supposed to stay inside due to the virus.

Raise the issue on r/indiaspeaks and r/india(not much hope) or even r/chodi and see if you find something.

I left randia a few years ago. It started as a decent place with all sorts of ideas, discussions and jokes. But with the sub growing, it increasingly became politically unidirectional (you know which direction it would've been) and an actual sh*thole right in front of my eyes.

Indiaspeaks, I should check out. Thanks, mate.

I expected you to be a randi so I actually linked it, but this was unexpected, but a happy surprise. You're a sanghi?

I live in the Netherlands and people love the colour orange here. So, yeah, I'm in a whole country of Sanghis... 😆

Dude it is India. That bitch might get away even with killing him and would claim she was being raped when he was alive. Fucking fake feminism and stupid ass bollywood films misleading people. Thank God i do not live there anymore.

[–]likan24 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In India the laws are heavily tilted in favour of women and so are the judicial verdie

We're talking about $20....
