In order to make money you have to really understand what value and wealth are. It isn't something I can sum up in a few sentences. I'll give a quick little blurb to get the mind moving in the right direction. It's really simplified but gives an example of making money or making shit.

Most people have skills that are easy to learn and a ton of people already know them. Most people also make shit money. As you move up in rarity and difficulty the pay goes up. You have value because you have a skill that is in demand and few others posses. The skill has value in the first place because it is a wealth creator.

Example:

Ted has 10 years of enterprise software development under his belt. He also has a few specialized certifications and is very knowledgeable on the newest technologies. ButtFuck Inc hires him as a consultant because they need their ButtBook website to load faster. Ted's rate is $150 an hour and they are glad to pay it. He fixes the ButtBook website. It now loads 50% faster and can support 5000 additional users at a time. ButtBook grows in popularity and ButtFuck Inc makes 20% more revenue this year. Wealth was created. Ted helped ButtFuck Inc create more wealth. Side Note: Ted owns his own consultancy because he knows if he were a employee of some company, he wouldn't make nearly as much. Sure he has to take a risk and find his own work, something the sheep would be terrified of... but the extra 200 grand a year is worth it to him.

Jon is a janitor. He knows how to mop the floor and empty the trash. ButtFuck Inc hires him at $8 an hour. He cleans the building each day and listens to his mp3 player. Millions of other men and woman can do his job. If he didn't come to work for a month, people would still get by and ButtFuck Inc would still make the same amount of money. Jon doesn't create any wealth. Job bitches he only makes $8 an hour, but dosn't understand why he makes only $8 an hour. Just like a fat neckbeard bitches he only gets obese moms to suck his cock. Just like the fat femcunt bitches "why don't any real men like me!!!". Now Jon could possibly start a janitorial company, figure out what the competition offers and then devise a way to offer more value. He then could maybe make $20 or $30 an hour and be his own boss. He is part of the herd though, and that is something only a risky dumbass would do. Really he would just rather get the $8 an hour and not have to think.

Lebron James is one of the worlds top basketballers. People pay tons of money either by ticket sales or watching ads on TV just to see him play. He is paid millions per year. The owner of his team is glad to do it, because due to Lebron's fame and crowd draw.. he made an extra 40 million that year. Jon the janitor watches Lebron on TV and bitches. "That dumb monkey makes millions to shoot a ball. The fuck kind of world do we live in!!! I have a HARD job and get nothing!!!".

When you understand value and wealth you'll see that wealth creators are where the money is at. The highest paid people in the company ( besides the owner ) are the ones who create wealth and sustain the company. The lowest paid are just additional nice to haves that do bullshit the money makers don't feel like. They can be replaced at any moment. The only time these little people stopping work cause a ruckus, is when they do it all at once. If all the workers of a Walmart walked out at the same time as a single entity, that Walmart would lose money since it can't function anymore. All the low paid workers together as a single entity create wealth, but the individual not so much. This walkout situation almost never happens, and when it does there is always some loser to fill in if the other losers hold out too long. Most individual wealth creators hate unions for this reason. All the little workers together as a union can start/stop work and fuck up the wealth flow. As if they were a single bigshot.

Stop working at bullshit jobs that create zero wealth or need a big swath of people to do it. Research skills that are hard to do, and in demand. Once you have mastery of said skill, start your own outfit and collect maximum profit. Then live like the people in "Millionaire Next Door" and retire when you're in your early 40s.

I see all these other guys essentially saying,

"Yes, drop everything and start toward a well-paying career with plenty of room for advancement."

And I agree with every word of it, but only pick a job that you actually enjoy doing, or at least don't loathe. Because the whole point of what you're trying to do in life is to be happy, and a career is going to be 1/3 of your life at least. So, take stock of what you do and what you do not enjoy doing in life and find a way to make what you like your job.

I would say to make your focus on "mastery" of something instead of trying to get rich. Find something that you really enjoy, and that you're really good at, and pour your energy into becoming exceptional at it. Women really respond to this, in my experience. Yes, they love money, and money is always good to have, but you'll notice that at parties and social events, the guys with high-income banking jobs are getting ignored by the ladies in favor of the guy who's the sax player for the band.

I say this from firsthand experience. I am a professional "old world" craftsman, probably one of the top ranked in the world for the particular craft that I do, which is a very Victorian-era skill. I have a lot of accolades and recognition from this, but income-wise, I make about as much as the typical network admin. However, I can live comfortably and own a couple of cars and eat out regularly, and that's all I need. What gives me satisfaction in life is not being paid wads of cash for doing a job that I hate, but rather, being very very good at a skill that I enjoy. I would personally rank that as much higher on the "Life Satisfaction" scale than just making lots of moolah.

And the thing is, women DIG it. They respond to confidence and mastery, and if you can become really good at something, you'll get female attention whether you're rich or not, as long as you can at least show a baseline level of financial competence (What that means is, you don't need to be making enough to live in a mansion, but don't be the awesome bass player who's living out of his van, because that will NOT play with the ladies). I cannot TELL you how many women have told me that my job is "sexy" when they find out I'm involved in a woodworking craft. At parties, people's eyes glaze over when someone talks about their day in tech support, but I usually have a small crowd following me around asking excited questions about my work and how "interesting" my life must be. And I'm not saying this to brag, I'm just sharing what I've experienced. I would never have expected myself that this job would be a draw for the ladies and it has been a complete surprise to me that I get flirtatious attention because of it, but the thing was, I wasn't looking for the attention going in, I was looking to master a skill. When I mastered the skill, the attention came, because apparently women love seeing men doing things that they're good at.

TLDR: Don't worry about the money, find something you like and get damn good at doing it, and the life satisfaction you get out of it will make everything else come easier.

My biggest advice is to SAVE. Cut your budget aggressively and try to build capital. Dont go into debt without understanding the implications. If you must go into debt, make sure that debt is put to good use like making your capital grow faster.

Read up on self improvement books and how to start up a business. You are at the right age to launch a business. Free time, disposable income and young adult age can work in your favour. Keep exposing yourself to new markets and ideas. You want to get into the mindset if a business man. Find value in something and then execute it. Dont be afraid of failure. The richest people in the world took this same route. They failed and failed until they found that one business that turned out to be successful. Do the same and you'll eventually figure it out.

You dont need to be in a stem field to be rich. In fact, I'd advise against getting into stem. It will be oversaturated and pay/jobs wont be there once youve graduated. College and uni will never teach you how to gain financial independence. All it does is institutionalize you to become a modern version of a slave!!

Ill let you in on what educational reality really is. You ready for the truth? Uni is a business run by businessmen. University is in coalition with other businesses/corporations and government. Case in point, you go to college to get a degree that qualifies you to apply for jobs in a corporate and pay your taxes. The institution wins! University is a big ass business and a very successful one at that. They are not looking out for your personal interest. They are looking out for their own self interest and of corporations and government. You, are just a number to them. They dont care that there is an oversupply of graduates in every single market. University will never teach you the right skills to be a successful business owner or an investor. You know why? To make sure you remain as a slave to the economy. We are all slaves to the wealthy and elite.

At 22-28 I will advise you against going to college. The opportunity cost of doing so is FAR too great to lose. You'll slip further behind than you already are.

The rich are rich because they didnt play the same game as we all did. Remember that fellow rpers. Your end game is financial freedom and I'm telling you university to corporate employee is not the route to take. As a starting point to gaining your financial independence, I highly recommend watching a youtube clip about 'cash flow quadrant'. Do that now.

Do something that pays well. STEM fields, trades, anything of that sort. Become the best at it by working on it consistently each day. Find a mentor related to that field. Make connections in that field by going to events and such. Define the job you want in that field and the requirements for it. Work for it.

I am 29 and I was broke as FUCK out of college at 21, but now I am comfortable and could live luxoriously, although I choose not to. I'm no millionaire, but I did turn an english major and a shit-ton of hipster-entitlement into a pretty secure, solid career.

Here is the 22-28 "what I would have told myself".

Read books about finance, investments, etc. SO many people make decent money in that age range (50k-100k) and know NOTHING about what to do with their money. Seriously - a low income invested well when you are just out of college is solid. If you're money isn't growing, you are missing 1/2 of the puzzle. Read Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Seriously, devour books on finance.
Switch jobs. The old "stick with General Motors for 30 years and then retire" type of career isn't really optimal now. Get your foot in the door. Every 1-2 years, you need to leapfrog. Not even for more pay - I think leapfrogging to jobs that you sense will be HOT is far more important. Don't be a bitch, take the leap. When you get a career where you know you are indispensible and they know it, that is when you dig in, stay, and continue to find new ways to make yourself indispensable. When you can tell you are not necessary anymore, then you need to start looking for somewhere where you will be.
There are tons of hot skills to have now. Coding, engineering, design, etc. Having 2-3 years of exp in any of these jobs will get you to 100k if you are smart and hard working. But ultimately, by the time you develop those skills, so have other people, and they are no longer as hot. So to make the big money, you need to figure out the hot skills of tomorrow. A few years ago if you studied data science, for example, you would be swimming in it. But now everyone is trying to. For decent money, pick a hot skill of today or a "always needed" skill like law / medical etc. For the big money, figure out what's going to be in demand tomorrow.

Working on yourself/career can be used as a way to tell your prospects that they will never get your priority, which may work to keeping them around for you since women like a challenge and hate a seemingly idle man. What you need to make sure is that all this time you look presentable and seem mentally happy, and try to do dates that don't require lots of money but are unique (even try multi dates to little places on the same night to get her over the first date can't fuck nonsense)

But money comes when you show an employer you're worth something to the company or when you make one yourself, if you aren't starting out rich. Keep some good looking clothes in good repair and be sure you add value to your woman through conversations and what you can teach her until she learns the value of your dick.

PS - don't forget that money will reward your hard work, and so will women with their affections. Do it for you and they will come. Do it for them and it's transparent, and not worth it.

In the context of success with women money is not everything. I already see plenty of excellent career advice so I'll take the road less traveled. Read more books. Learn an instrument. Culture yourself by visiting places of significance in your local area or within driving distance. Money and career are great to have but if you aren't cultured or witty you may only attract women interested in a nice wallet to suckle from instead of those who are drawn to you because you are an interesting person.

Most of the other advice here is good. Let me add an alternative.

Most good jobs and career changes are found through the grapevine. Clean up your act, start studying anything. Start asking others you deal with what they think. Even if you are the lowest man on the totem pole, you are technically near and have access to the highest. Be respectful of their time, explain your situation and ask what they think and if they know of any other opportunities. Smile warmly and be polite when you do it. Their advice may hurt, or they might even blow you off, but try again with someone else. If they are like most managers or high powered engineers, they don't even have time to think about what you are asking but might think through your request later and get back to you (even if they seem to blow you off).

There are stories everywhere of janitors who became executives. It's rare and hard to do, but possible. Think of it like compounding interest. Even if you only increase your worth at 5% a year, that means your worth doubles in 14 years. Given you have 40 years at least left in your working time. That means you double in worth almost 3 times. Let's say you can pull off 10% a year. That means you double in worth almost six times.

But, beware of pyramid schemes and criminal activity. Stay out of debt (all debt). Save and invest. Invest in yourself. Don't let yourself break down. Don't let your friends, family, or acquaintances hold you down, they are not real friends if they do, avoid dream killers/time vampires. Hold on to friends that help and understand.

20 year old here. Lost interest in doing IT, studied the certificates but got passive with it. Focusing on practicing piano now and sculpting a godly body. I may get into the trades but am a couple years away from having my full drivers license so I'm very limited to jobs. Construction labourer pays $18/hr so I'm going to work that for now, figure out a career direction, improve on my hobbies, save some and spend on travel/toys.

Problem with my age group is that we tend to want things pretty quick, I think this instant gratification overload is too blame. Just gotta put in work everyday and also make time to enjoy the finer things. Gradually improving on my skills is what im doing, everyday my actions remind me of the end goal and I already feel good. In the moment. Not anxious about the future

If you're in your early to mid 20's and not attached (no wife or kids), then yes absolutely. Go to college in a STEM field, move to North Dakota and work in the oil fields, do whatever you have to do to earn, save, and invest as much as you can early on.

If you play your cards right, you will hit your 30s able to live the life you want with a much lower income (from working) than you would otherwise need.

Others here can give you better advice than I as to how to actually play those cards, but in your 20s the key is to earn as much as possible.

Avoid the STEMs. The STEM shortage is something made up by big companies, so they can tell the Government "oh look we have a shortage" so they can bring in more H1B Visa Engineers who'll work for $10 a hour.

In Canada - only 30% of people with engineering degrees work as engineers. The unemployment rate for engineers in absolutely appaling in both America and Canada - it goes up to 50% as many engineers are fired at age 40 for being 'too old and too expensive to employ'.

A Bachelor's in Chemistry or Math doesn't get you a job paying more than $15 a hour.

To make a career in the STEMS - you need a Teacher's Certificate combined with a Masters of Education to make a pay ceiling of $85K as a public school teacher. With a PhD - you can make $130K as a Professor (but it takes decades to make full Professor). Both options look bad to me - you're spending close to 7 to 9 years in school for a pay ceiling lower than the Trades (Tradesmen can start their own business or work in mining) and Business (where Juniour Executives make $150K in Canada and Executives up to $300K or more).

Not sure about the states but all the money in Canada is in the Trades and Technician.

I'm a Power Engineer (which is a Technician position which doesn't require a four year degree) and me and my colleagues are making up to $243K a year and that is before extra shifts (we can make $300K a year if we take extra shifts).

Yes - we have to work in Northern BC and Northern Alberta but there are families up here, we get pensions, we can live anywhere in Canada on our time off (lots of us live in BC in Vancouver, Saltspring Island, Sechelt, et cetera) and we generally have good job security (no one is lining up for our jobs, at least not yet).

Go to websites that post salary ranges. Looks at things you can do. Then take that list and look at what you want to do. Then do it.

I started in IT in my 20's, now in my 40's. No college. Income in top 20%. It can be done.

I don't see any rule where it says you can't fuck women while you are getting educated and building your career.

I'd go for the Masters degree - roll right into it after getting the Bachelors. If you can get in field right away do it. If not, get a serving/bartending gig while you get educated. Put the in-field job search on full blast in your last semester of the Bachelors.

If you are a kid with his shit together, you don't have to be rich to have an upward financially adjusted SMV. Young guys can make great use of the "potential" label. Some women will recognize that you have the magic potential quality about you and target you for LTR. Use that however you like.

A 22-28 year old guy can be in school making $1000 a week serving/bartending - and have a nice apartment and a decent ride. At that age, that's all the PUA props you really need. Your qualifier is met and then it's all about confidence, style and how much shit you can talk.

If you're a bartender... You'll get more ass than you know what to do with.
