How can I, a college student, set myself apart from other women/my peers?

If your college is anything like mine, most means of socialization involve alcohol. It's fine to nurse a drink or two, just stay in control. No drunk texting, no blaming embarrassing behavior on alcohol, no use of alcohol as a crutch.

It's sort of in these days to be a hot mess - being unable to cook, clean, dress well, wake up early, manage money, or handle ordinary responsibilities on your own. Having your ish together can set you apart from your age group and make you more appealing to others who also have their lives together.

If you elaborate a bit more on what your goals are, maybe people will have more specific advice to offer?

Looking put together is definitely the first step to being noticed, and, hearkening back to my own college days (a veritable sea of too-big sweats and old t-shirts), it really doesn’t take that much extra effort to stand out! Put on a cute sweater instead of a hoodie, a sundress instead of gym shorts, a pretty blouse instead of a t-shirt. I also find that earrings always make an outfit look prettier! You don’t need to spend an hour a day getting ready to stand out.

In terms of drinking, I agree with everything u/rospina said, and will add an RPW catchphrase: u/MsSadieDunham’s classic “Is this the hill I want to die on?” Is having one extra drink (or two, or more!) really worth the cost? The cost being kissing (or more!) someone you regret, spending too much money, getting hurt or making yourself sick, ending up in a dangerous situation, or, quite honestly, looking ridiculous, all things that aren’t attractive to a good guy. It’s worth asking yourself before you grab another drink: What’s the cost here? Will the short-lived fun of drunken goofiness outweigh the potential cost?

I’ll add my own market research to this. My body cannot handle booze (I'm like borderline allergic/intolerant), so I essentially don’t drink. I drank very little in college. Nearly everyone I’ve spoken to about this has said to me, “I wish I wouldn’t have drunk so much in college,” or “I wish I would’ve done what you did.” There is virtually nothing I regret from my college days, no embarrassing or incriminating photos of me, no stories about “that crazy/stupid/gross thing that mabeol did!” Is getting drunk fun? Sure. But... is this the hill you want your dignity to die on? :)

Best of luck! Take it from someone who’s done it: You can have a great college experience without the sweats, hangovers, and benders!

Edited to add! Once I was in a living space that had a kitchen, I would sometimes bake stuff and bring it to my smaller, more casual classes. Scones, cookies, one time a birthday cake. The positive response was overwhelming, and the wife-material comments were numerous! I understand that it's not always an option, but once in a while, it's really fun!

I find that looking definitely female is a great idea. I think the "uniform" so many women wear today (athletic clothes; jeans/t-shirt)is so much like a man's only smaller. You'll get noticed more if you have a different look.

I would suggest finding different settings to socialize... If all you're doing is going to parties, it is likely that all you will find is guys who want to party, drink, and have casual sex. Joining clubs at your college, going out to other locations to mingle, etc is probably a better bet than just going to the same parties every week.

It saddens me to hear that young girls are going around wearing T-shirts and shorts. You will never be able to rock a nice dress as when you're young. As time goes by you will probably have less and less time to care about yourself. It's sad not to use up that potential that youth gives.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I find women who have a natural make up look, or little to no make up more "natural" and genuine, imo. It should be used to enhance your beauty, not mask and replace it with something artificial.

Other than enhancing your exterior, enhance your interior. Do reading on this subreddit, make yourself aware of things going on right now, like social dynamics, nature of men and women, etc.

pay for your own drinks unless it's a point with him, stay behind your date/friends. (If your guy knows anything about basic propriety and being a captain, he'll be trying to stay behind you actually).
no sororislutting (shouldn't be a problem for you)
recognize that sex still has to happen before commitment. It's a part of compatibility. Don't give it up immediately or quickly, respect yourself buy you need to test drive a car from both perspectives before buying. (A lot of rp girls I've dated have made the mistake of going overboard with this. Remember if he's that good he has sex pretty much free. You need to be compatible and only testing it will key you in.)
don't badmouth people you call friends. It's unattractive.
no backstabbing. It's unattractive.
respect his privacy if he divulges in you. It's amazing how much many people think an observant individual won't realize there's something going on behind the scenes.
don't put yourself in classically or heuristically poor looking situations. He'll simply plate you or next you.
HAVE HOBBIES YOU FEEL PASSIONATE ABOUT
recognize the difference between dressing for you and dressing for him. (A red male loves a personal dirty girl, but nexts an openly dirty girl)
BE DEMANDING IN YOUR EXPECTATIONS. I specifically mean your "do not cross" lines. These are things that move him from alpha provider to alpha user. (Okay business is your priority. Chilling with your orbiting harem isn't okay with me). You only help both of you move on or move in faster by being honest.
don't become complacent or entitled (shouldn't be an issue for you)
decide if you're in college for a Miss degree or something else. It'll change all your foci one or another.
this is controversial, but I personally enjoy shit tests. Keep them coming, but make them funny and light. It just reminds me I need to stay sharp, and that you're already considering me as an option. Very controversial. Do with that as you will.

stay fit.
don't freak out at a need for distance or alone time. Simple reminders or check ins are great.
LEARN TRADITIONAL SKILLS TO COMPLEMENT OTHERS, if he cooks, sew, if he doesn't cook, cook, if he is bad with finance, fucking drop him and get something better.
if you decide to invest in him, you will have to do so fully. Give him 2 strikes. Three is too risky in my opinion. You'll be paid back tenfold. (Or you paid to find out his true nature, so you're better off anyway)
never believe you can change him.
don't focus on "most hookup", this is your life. So do what you love and find guys that share close passions. A club isn't a place to meet a healthy ltr on either side.
don't delude yourself into thinking your profession or field of study will attract alpha men. (Really hard to hear, but too often young women make this mistake. I'm after your looks and your values, not your educational and credential certs, plus i don't need your certs, I'm great as is. Yes. Beauty is a part of this. Personality and compatibility seal the deal.)

You'll be fine. Just being aware of your agency is huge. You'll be great. Also protect yourself. We like it easy but there's no reason to commit if your average. (No offense and shouldn't be a problem for you)
