Hello friends,

I am taking a sociology class this semester called Gender and Globalization. On the first day of class, the prof was very explicit in saying that it’s a course on gender and not women, and I found that very encouraging. So far our readings have been interesting and insightful, but they are really long (150 pages a week!) on top of all my other classes so I am a little overwhelmed haha

Which is why I figured I would ask you for some help regarding my next assignment.

I have to choose a book to read and review by October 21st. It needs to be: - academic (non-fiction) - published in 2013 or later - on one of five broad topics in global perspective: 1) gender and labor 2) gender and migration 3) gendered violence 4) gender and extremist politics or 5) commodified bodies (e.g., sex trafficking/tourism)

I was hoping you could help me pick a book (that isn’t too long — under 200 pages) on a perspective that you feel isn’t talked about enough. My prof says that if my review is good there are strong chances that it could be published in a journal, and so it could help promote an author you think deserves more attention.
