So today, I decided I would finally go get a haircut. I have been delaying it for some time now. My friend, well she got her haircut for roughy ₹270 at her parlour due to student discount. And ₹270 is definitely more than I have ever paid for my haircut. Heck, I don't even want something special. For the past 11 months, I have been getting a buzz cut. I don't care about how it looks on me, I am more than my haircut. So I cycle six kilometres to this place, which has "Unisex salon" written in bold uppercase letters. I walk in, and I enquire if the student discount is still available at this time. The one at the reception says: "Not for males". I ask him, "This is a unisex salon, right?" "Yes." "So I don't understand why I would not get student discount for a service any other female student would get." I go to the same college, I am carrying my student ID, and my hair is definitely not going to require as much work as someone who has long hair. I just walked out of the salon, and the receptionist kept asking me what was wrong.
Unisex Salon. Student discount. Not for men.
I know you don't owe me a discount. But at least don't be a hypocrite. Imagine trying to attract students by giving discounts, while you eliminate half of the population because they are students who have different sex chromosomes.
Imagine if it was the other way around. The mainstream media would have covered this indefinitely, sensationalising it beyond belief. Imagine if Spotify were to say only male students get 50% off.
Females say their beauty-related expenses are high, while not seeing at multiple places, males just don't enjoy the same right.

My haircut takes 10 minutes from start to finish. My wife's takes close to an hour. Do you really have to ask why there is a price difference ?
