The amazing thing to me is how many people are vilifying him the comments. I mean, there is some great gymnastics to make he the victim in this. Some people are even reading his expression as self loathing for being a bad husband.

Admittedly, taken out of context, this looks real bad. As fan of the podcast, it's really not. What she is referencing is not that she's only with him because of his money, but that he, due to plethora of personal issues, is very bad at expressing his emotions or showing love, while she does a lot for him. So without that that easy thing for him, of just buying gifts, he would rarely if ever do anything to show love or appreciation.

Iirc, in one episode she actually complains about this saying essentially, I dont want your money I want emotional support while I'm dealing with family issues.

And then she just dismisses it with "I love you?" to try to wrap it all up. And he says it back, which to me is the saddest part. I flinched *for* him when she started stroking his face, trying to make nice before going off to bitch about something else.
