This is a criminal issue isn't it? Being investigated by the police, and there are charities and organisations set up to help these people... so what's that got to do with men as a class? Once again though it seems yet another appeal for men to stand or be shamed for not acting in the way women want

I am sympathetic towards their plight, but at the same time, people seem to view it as a serious problem, give it a lot of attention, and are dedicating significant resources towards helping these women, so this clearly isn't an equality issue, it's a simple crime one.

It doesn't matter how you feel about feminism. This is an article that's about forced slavery. It doesn't matter who it is or why, slavery of any form is unacceptable. I get we're all fed up with feminist nonsense, but even if you don't want to look at it from a moral standpoint the modern slave trade victimizes everyone, man or woman, boy or girl.

We can care about inhumane treatment of others without being selective about it and we should because this is less a gender issue and more a humanitarian issue.

Anyways.

This is what I replied:

“Trafficked victims have asked their customers to try and help them.

“Some men will help, others will just shrug their shoulders and some will tell the trafficker what she has said."

So, these men were particularly the customers. I don't think such men would be of any help. Most men visiting the brothels are not exactly the kind of men who hold the courage or will voice against injustice. Not saying all men visiting the brothels are of low morale. The statement did say, "Some men will help."

Anyways, that's the case with women(not all, only the feminists) also. In the US, male minor rape victims are 3 times more than the female minor rape victims under the Child Care Program(or whatever it is called), till date we have seen no feminist speak against it. Anyways, that's the fraud of feminism, a whole another topic.

It should be noted that while the article concentrates on trafficked women, it also mentions male slaves.

Our best approach would be to support the campaign against trafficking women, while also saying that we're equally opposed to male slavery.

That way, we make a positive impression with our support, and create a good opportunity to bring up men's slavery as well.

This is not a gender issue, it's a human issue.

There's currently a moral panic over sex trafficking. Like bootlegging it's a crime so rare that it's almost non-existent. But feminist organizations have lobbied the government to pour a large amount of money into their coffers because it. Law enforcement is getting money thrown their way for human trafficking as well. So every conceivable prostitution bust they make is labeled "human trafficking" as a way to get more money for the local police department.

Even prostitutes are getting in on the action! If they claim that they are victims of "human trafficking" and didn't enter prostitution voluntarily they won't be charged. In fact in many cases they have their records wiped clean, and get access to: welfare and free job training.

I've read a lot of Daily Record articles on the matter of sexwork, they are completely based on hysteria and exaggerated made-up claims. Earlier this decade there were like 4 or 5 failed attempts to make prostitution illegal in Scotland by Labour MSPs, and it was interesting to note when it came to the public consultations the ones supporting criminalisation were feminists and the churches, while the ones who wanted prostititution legal were the actual sexworkers and their groups themselves.

oh and btw, this is from a few years back but a UK-wide investigation (the biggest ever) to find all the trafficked victims the tabloid rags scream about came back pretty much empty: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/oct/20/government-trafficking-enquiry-fails

Also a fun fact- a few years back Harriet Harman (former UK equalities minister) made a big fuss over escort-directory Punternet and even lobbied Arnold Schwarzenegger (at the time Govenor of California, where Punternet is based) to get it shut down. The result? Arnie ignored her and Punternet got a lot of free advertising, and escorts were getting lots of new customers who hadn't heard of Punternet until then.
