I hate how people assume that if you want mens' rights you must be a Conservative.

If it's just for a picture, then I'd say it's just a joke. If it's for the whole day, it should be abuse. Either way, I'm against people (especially celebrities) using children as props.

[–]TheStumblingWolf 8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

People joked all through my childhood and teens and said I wasn't worth anything. It took my maturing and a lot of work to undo it.

[–]antilopes 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

That suggests it was never a joke, just the standard abusive technique of masking abuse as a "joke" to make the victim look like and even feel like the problem when they "can't take a joke".
I'm glad you could find your way out of it.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

Come on, the only data point we have is the picture for her parenting. You have no idea at all whether she's doing this all the time with her kids, similar to your situation, or this was a lark. I'd be my entire paycheque the kids were in on it the entire time.

[–]TheStumblingWolf 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I was making a point of the fact that if she does this for more than just this moment it could have bad consequences.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Obviously it could, and likely would, but that's not the situation.

These are two visibly healthy boys having a laugh WITH Mom, not a couple of boys being laughed at BY Mom.

[–]DJ-Roukan 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly.

No one is more adamant about men's rights than I, but It's a fugging joke, people, because every parent knows how little peace we actually get.

What it does show, however, is how feminist crazy people have raised our level of hysteria to the stratosphere.

Rather than become them, lets Just work to end feminism and we can all go back to normal, where jokes are just jokes, and not some hidden abuse.

I don't know, the kid on the right looks miserable to me. Even if it is a joke it's cruel to make the kids suffer for a laugh.

[–]Rolten 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It could just be acting eh...

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Still abuse, even for just a picture.

I'll guarantee you that these kids are going to remember it for ever.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

It would be good if they remember it forever, including when they are parents. It is a restatement of the Mothers' Day wish that many mothers don't feel allowed to express:
"Don't talk to me, and don't touch me".

I've seen too many mothers describing Mothers' Day in which no recognition was shown by the family that the thing they might want more than anything is a day pass, away from the mothering role.

If a man does things like this, it's toxic masculinity.

It a woman does things like this, it's called funny.

Fucking double standards.

[–]NohoTwoPointOh 16 points17 points18 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There was a guy who did a similar joke with his family titled "Peace on Earth". People lost their minds.

FWIW, I find both funny. The double standard is what sucks.

[–]vxd386 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The double standard is what sucks.

Exactly.

It's the same with black people making jokes about white people and vice versa.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It was funny when the male real estate agent did it with his wife and two daughters, and it's funny when Naomi Watts does it with her two boys. The kids are in on it, clearly.

When did our society become a bunch of humourless prigs?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think anyone really thinks it's funny tbh. A bit overboard

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points46 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Child abuse

[–]Men-Are-Human 13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Agreed.

[–]benderXX 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

A father days gift would be spousal support check ripped in half.

[–]Mac4491 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, it's a jokey picture.

You're overreacting.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a joke. But it was the same with the family who had the professional photographer do something similar and faced huge backlash.

[–]Vance87 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If it was just for the picture then whatever. But let's not act like if a father did this to his daughters he'd never hear the end of it.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hah, that's pretty funny.

Hopefully she doesn't get any backlash for it. I remember a few instances of dudes making similar jokes and getting pilloried online by overly sensitive Feminists who are incapable of taking a joke.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Remember the real estate agent who sent out a joke Christmas card about how it was quiet all through the house, and his picture had his wife and two daughters with tape over their mouths?

People lost their MINDS over that picture.

It's just a family having a laugh, people. The kids are in on it.

[–]Jackson2615 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

even as a joke this is sick

[–]Bestprofilename 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It looks like a joke. Please don't turn into the whining women who also can't take it when a man tells a joke. I agree that if Naomi was a guy she would be more likely to be criticised but that is all you should feel any conviction to complain about, not the joke itself. The girl on the right is probably acting.

[–]antilopes 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I had to look it up, she has two boys.
I've been a fan of Naomi Watts since Mulholland Drive, therefore she can do no wrong.

[–]macaryl95 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As someone with siblings who literally never shut the hell up, I giggled involuntarily.

[–]AkariSarzul 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why does the tape seem fake?

[–]antilopes 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Everything is different for rich folks. Even their duct tape is softer and more flexible.

[–]Consilio_et_Animis 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think it’s photoshopped; not tape.

[–]bakercameron199 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Naomi Watt the fuck?!?!

[–]user_miki 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yes mothers loves their kids as longs as they have their mouth duct taped, for them to brag about on social media.

loook how woke I am and how I treat my children- virtue signaling with abused children.Soon they will post photos with their penises cut to receive likes on facebook. Sure they wanted to be abused.

No sane father in this world would do such thing to his daughter if the roles were reversed. No one.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She and all her friends won't be laughing for long when these boys grow up and leave her to rot alone, never returning her calls or visiting her on holidays.

[–]Onlymgtow88 -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I wish more male children would fight back against abuse mothers. At their size I was already holy terror when my mom would try to abuse me, but young boys nowadays are probably so confused.
