My GF (25) en I (26) were driving home, and she told me about this girlfriend of hers that will go backpacking in Ecuador (lmao) alone for 6 weeks or more (we are from Western Europe). This girl has a boyfriend of about 6 months.

I asked if the guy would join her, to which my girlfriend answered that he wouldn't. I scoffed and my gf started asking questions about my response. I told her that I wouldn't want my girlfriend to go backpacking alone, let alone for 6 weeks, let alone in a fucking drug den.

She asked what I would do if she would travel alone for such a long period of time, and I told her I'd break up with her because to me it's obvious disrespect to go fucking backpacking or going abroad for such a long time.

Well, she basically flipped the fuck out while I expressed how I felt about a girl going backpacking for 6 weeks in a shithole country while she's in a relationship. In fact, she almost started crying about how controlling I am, and that it's important to give each other the space and trust to undertake travelling like this.

I asked her if she was planning to go backpacking alone and if that's the reason why she responded like this. She told me she doesn't want to, to which I replied that in that case there's no reason to respond like this.

Obviously she didn't listen to this logic and continued shouting. I told her I would not engage in a 'discussion' like this and stopped talking. She did the same but she remained angry.

Now she's pissed off because I apparently don't trust women.

Please advise me on this situation. What would be the required course of action?
