Because school is specifically catered to them but the reAl world puts them on a level playing field?

True though.

Because school is specifically catered to them but the real world puts them on a level playing field? for children.

Don't know why you're getting downvoted; society is all about treating women like children with no agency and feminist inspired policy is all about maintaining treating them like children

On a break at work so I didn't have time to finish the article. My hopes started high when they if school is the problem. They then set in talking about how school is failing our girls by not building confidence in spite of the constant social droning of women are wonderful. They didn't even acknowledge the possibility of grading bias being a part of better performance of women. They also portrayed men as having false confidence when they success rather than addressing the neuroticism of the female students. It was nice to see them call it out in an implied way saying the school should work to inspire their confidence, but they never directly called out the behaviors as neuroticism.

Break's over, back to work.

I read most of the article but gave up in disgust. The comments are even worse. It maintains that girls are doing better than boys at school despite there being a bias against girls at school (greetings from the clown world, where everything is upside down!). It goes on to suggest that men are being then favored so much in adult life, that women are held back, even while being better. The comments are equally sickening. This just ignores all the evidence there is about female priviledge, something I have been suffering under my whole life, watching as women being literally thrown promotions at with the barest of effort. The emperor is naked!

Right all these academic articles are the same. They never ask "are schools failing boys".

[–]pathfinder52 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course not. Do we expect them to admit that a fucking TEN PERCENT of boys are treated with amphetamins for “Attention definciency” because they fucking can’t do their job? Mothers included!

It's because school, and by association grades, aren't indicative of ones ability within a given subject. Take maths for example. A course breakdown could look like this: Tests = 30%, Final = 30%, Homework = 20%, Attendance = 10%. "Mike" could determine that he has a good understanding of the subject, and therefore doesn't need to do much (if any) homework, nor does he need to attend class regularly. This doesn't stop him from getting 100% on every test, as well as the final, which will get him a 60% in the course. "Sally" might not be on the same footing, and so she needs to do all of her homework, and attend every class, in order to get an 80% on all tests and the final. That would net her a 78.

On paper that makes her a more successful "student," while the underlying numbers tell a different story entirely. Mike is vastly superior to Sally at demonstrating accuracy in maths. Once you arrive in the workplace, all that matters are the results - not the effort. THIS is what is leaving women behind. They've been conditioned to expect the highest of results from trying their hardest, whereas the work world strictly rewards performance.

And the remaining 10% is for sucking up to the teacher?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well that was sloppy on my part

the golden ratio 20% of effort get 80% of the results.

In any company 20% of men produce 80% of company profit.
