(Imo) the wage gap doesnt exist because of sexism, it exists because people choose to use data that doesnt compare the same exact job with the same amount of experience with the same requirements. They choose to average all of the men and the women then say “women make 77 cent to a mans dollar”. So I guess if I were to give you advice, you could say how the wage gap has arisen from preferences and tendencies from each gender, and then how we take improper data and make up a bullshit fact to push a political agenda.

The data suggests that women stay out of the workforce for extended periods of time leading to less experience and lower wages.
Women, generally, have gone into occupations that pay less than male dominated occupations like care work.
The normative male gender role is to provide financial support for a family. Thus, we gain our status from occupying jobs that women don’t because they don’t have to. Similar to point two I know.
Women are, on the whole, better educated than men. So, they have have the option to get into high paying work, but choose not to.
A taboo argument: households couldn’t survive on one income starting in the 1970s when second wave feminism was going strong; therefore, they entered the workforce to supplement. You’d have to dig deep to frame this argument in the realm of desire to make an income and skill disparity,

Wage gap is the difference in money that ALL men make versus ALL women. It doesn't take into account hours worked, type of job, or any other factors. It's comparing two different things. Like comparing a male CEO of a fortune 500 company to a daycare worker and then saying there is a giant gap in wages. Harvard came out with a study recently, you may want to look that up

Edit: you want to be controversial, do the welfare gap where women claim more in welfare then males

ok this is the argument that you can use with easy mathematics :

So Take the statistics about the %tage of men and women per sector of activity and establish the fact that :
-Men tend to go torwards STEM jobs (engineering, IT,... )
-Women tend to go torwards social jobs (teachers, social orkers and so on)

I don't have the wage statistics per sector but you could probably find them for your country on the national statistic bureau's website. But you will probably arrive to the following conclusion :

-The Market values STEM jobs more than they value social jobs which leads to higher wages in STEM fields than social Fields.

So, so far, you have established than men tend more torwards high paying jobs more than women but now comes the juicy part.

Take the hypothesis that, for each sector, men and women are paid exactly the same (equal salary for equal job, the only variable is gender)

So you could say that : All engineers, whatever the gender, are paid $ 2.000/month and all social workers, whatever the gender are paid $ 1.000/month. (using a previously established facts that market values engineering more than social work).

Now take 5 individuals from each sector randomly. Using the satistics from the other previously established fact, you know that men are more represented in enginerring than women and that the oposite is also true in social workers.
So you could achieve the following :
- Out of 5 engineers you have 4 men and 1 woman.
- Out of 5 social workers you have 1 man and 4 women.

We previously established that, sector per sector, men and women were paid EXACTLY the same !
But what happens if we study the economy as a whole ?

Gender = ( ( number of engineers * wage of engineer ) + ( number of social worker * wage of social worker ) ) / total population of said gender = average salary of the gender in the economy as a whole.

Men : ( ( 4 * 2.000 ) + (1 * 1.000) ) / 5 = $ 1.800/ month
Women : ( ( 1 * 2.000) + (4 * 1.000 ) ) / 5 = $ 1.200 / month

And suddenly you have proven that the wage gap doesn't exist while also showing why people think that it exists.

You conclusion is easy : The market economy (capitalism) values some jobs more than others. Men tend to pick jobs that are more valued and thus better paid. If people are paid exactly the same sector per sector (= no wage gap) then the difference can only be explained by personnal choices of career and not by an oppressing patriarchy.

Advice : Try to find, for you own country, stats about the average wage in the vary sectors.
Advice 2 : Depending on your level of mathematics you could add other sector and have a wider range of the average wages for the economy as a whole.

The wage gap IS REAL, stop preaching misinformation.

With all the scholarships, legal incentives (like companies getting actual TAX BREAKS for hiring women), feminist agenda pushing, women now outearn men aged 18-30, and as this generation grows older it will be men who are seriously disadvantaged at literally every aspect of life.

Take that as a controversial assignment.
