How do they not see the hypocrisy? They say in one part that the judges are delivering equality with a vengeance. Then, in the next paragraph, literally states that there should be a distinction between men and women when it comes to sentencing. So, they want equality, get it, and now want to get lighter sentencing for the same crimes because equality? Is it fucking opposite day? Those are directly opposing statements and ideas.

How would a recent trend of "Increasing five times faster than male figures" be a result of "pervasive systemic gender bias"? If it is systemic then it obviously won't be the cause of a recent up-tick. And if gender bias is a bad thing, why are they trying to bias in favour of women, such as in "women have lower reoffending rates" and "[women have] increased suffering in custody" (which is almost certainly BS considering that more men are raped in prison than women in and outside of prison combined (source))? If they claim gender bias is a bad thing, then they cannot use gender biasing arguments; this should be obvious. I'm also not sure how this fits in with the "Women are strong and brave" narrative, since they're suggesting women aren't able to handle or deal with jail as well as men. The question then is, can women handle the same standards as men? And if not, then they need to stop expecting equality of outcome (separate from equality of opportunity) in related areas (e.g. performance in stressful jobs).

Well, everyone with a brain knows that there would big feminists, not just a few cranks, but people with actual influence who would scream their brains out if Women actually got canned for anything.

Though I do like how the article raises such a stink for the massive rise in the rate in which women are charged with DV, its almost like they weren't really being charged for it beforehand. Also as many here have noted if this is because "pervasive gender discrimination and bias" why has it waited all these years now to manifest? Why weren't only women and no men going to jail for DV decades ago if this current situation was a result of discrimination?
