How old are your children from your first marriage now? Do you have any contact with them?

The reason I ask is that you are talking about re-entering the modern economy with a presumably large debt, and that is going to be a massive, massive hassle. I don't know if Australia arrests people who reappear on their radar after abandoning kids - but I don't want you to find out the hard way. It won't help your older kids if you go to jail now, and you'd just end up abandoning a third kid in Thailand.

It's worth the risk and hassle of re-entry if you believe you will be able to make contact with your kids, apologize for leaving them, explain that you were totally mentally shattered at the time and your actions were in no way their fault, and start building a relationship with them again. If that's the case, then get yourself into the Thai cash economy and save up enough to hire an Australian family lawyer to look you up and find out how much you're on the hook for and what steps will be taken if you return to Australia.

If you don't have any reasonable hope of repairing your relationship with the children you left behind, then stay on your wife's family farm and concentrate on doing better by your third child.

Of course you want to do the right thing for your child, but it could cause problems for you. You could get hit with thousands of dollars worth of unpaid child support bills, which make it difficult to return to Australia in the future. My advice would be to see an Australian lawyer and find out the best way to pay a fair amount without causing issues for yourself.
