More women know about all the male sports teams, because male sports team operate on a truly different level than female sports teams.

For instance, the best female soccer/futbol team in the world cannot beat an under 15 boys community soccer team.

Not even an elite team, just a regular community soccer team.

Female professional teams lose to male children's teams.

So... yeah, people don't really care to pay attention to that low level of ability.

The Williams (Serena and Venus) can't compete against out of shape male tennis players. The only reason we know who they are, is because a lot of hot women play tennis professionally (and make a lot of money modeling as a result).

It's very welcome. My wife and a few friends were heavy in the roller derby scene a few years ago, and derby was fairly popular back in Texas.

The reason why it's not as wide spread is simply due to men being specifically built to do all these sports at a much higher level than women. I would love it if women were to be good enough to play any professional sports, but they aren't. I would love to see a women's pro softball league, but would it make enough to cover the cost of modifying the baseball stadium every day?

"Welcomed"? what are you talking about? men are competitive by their very nature. Generally speaking, women are not, they lean towards collaboration rather than competition. Not to mention physical competitions are off limits to women due to the massive physical disparity between us.... and only recently, in this subreddit, did I come to realize how enormous that disparity was; Apparently the adult, professional, national women's football (soccer) team from several nations, practice against sub15 teenage males..... and get slaughtered in the process (7-0? 5-2? I think those were the recent scores). This means that, say, a 14 year old teen is significantly stronger and faster than an adult female athlete.

These are well established physical and behavioral tendencies of men and women that differ between the sexes.

I think men are much more drawn to competition. Could be conditioning but I expect it is nature as well
