What surprised Cambridge Professor Victoria Bateman was not the amount of criticism she received, but how much of that criticism came from women.

The above quoted is what is known as "bullshit".

There's no way a woman over 30 doesn't know that the bulk of crticism levied at women, especially women trying to peacock for attention, comes from other women.

Well, yes. Women supporting women is not the same thing as blindly supporting anything a woman does. We don’t operate en mass in a solid blob of feminism. For her to have that expectation and raise an issue when the majority of criticism came from women is pretty insulting. I don’t know what her social media response was so I’ll withhold judgement there — no one should be legitimately abused, but criticism and abuse are not the same thing.

There is a time and a place for well-executed political stunts, and none of them come without criticism. If they did, they wouldn’t be effective, the whole point is to be controversial. Activism, (which I wouldn’t necessarily qualify this as) at times requires breaking laws or pushing boundaries, and part of the deal is that you have to be willing to accept the consequences. The opportunity in these stunts isn’t in the moment, it’s in leveraging the resulting discussion. If your first move is to use your platform to complain that people were mean to you, you’re not following through on the objective and come across as a naive follower, not a leader.

To be fair I don’t know anything about this woman and little about what she was trying to achieve, but at first glance this stunt just looks like a poorly executed attention grab delivered in an inappropriate context. Just one opinion, but it comes across to me as vulgar and does little to support a “my body my choice” message.
