The trouble with university statistics

1) it highlights a double standard. Eg affirmative action for women not men

2) a university education is beneficial in itself, regardless of what job you get.

3) it’s a downstream effect of poorer attainment for boys in high school

Well, it's essentially the reason why 50 years ago noone promoted women or paid them the same as a man. If they're all going to use college and entry level jobs as an elaborate "vanity exercise" to meet the "correct" men and then quit, then why waste your time with them? Work was not "optional" for men. It still isn't.

The problem is that we have promoted education as a goal in and of itself. I see so many people saying "College is about knowledge!" not realizing that they can get exactly the same knowledge reading independently.

A useful project would be to start an independant university where you are told what books you need to read for a degree in subject X, get a test on your knowledge of the subject and "graduate" if you pass the test.

I really don't understand why everyone is complaining. Education is something everyone should constantly gain and have. If people want to go to school then never use their degree or training or skill set, so be it.

This article clearly showed a woman who had a goal, had a life change, adapted to it then rolled with it to become what she defined as a better person. I applaud her for her adaptability, same as if any guy showed the same degree of resiliency.

If this is more about shreiking harpies and the pay gap and education gap and other issues, let's find a better example. She knows she made compromises, adapted to lifes changes and used what she learned to better her community and family.

It's a problem because unless you're taking the most generic major ever, you're usually put on a waiting list for sometimes years before you can enter a program. Women that will end up leaving their jobs for children are women that are eating up a slot that someone else needs for a job they'll hold for their entire lives potentially.

It's bad enough in general, but if you're a man thinking of going into a female-dominated industry (like nursing), you've fucking doomed as far of odds of getting in are concerned. It's a problem because you're effectively blocking men from these degrees by dint of favoring women.

These points are especially telling:

Her company did everything in their power to keep her in. She just couldn't keep up, even when they let her work from home.
She quit largely because she didn't want to miss out on her daughter's life.
Her being a SAHM was at times boring, and she spent her afternoons at Mommy Meet Ups, occasionally crying in the bathroom because she had nothing to do.
She took on a variety of community projects in her downtime and seems satisfied with them.

It's strange that despite having a seemingly positive experience, she is trying to pressure companies into giving mothers more freelance work. Where I live, freelance work is considered not real work, and companies that overly rely on freelancers/part-time employees are not generally trusted. There was actually a law recently enacted where if you have a contract worker employed for five years, you have to give them the option of becoming a full-time employee.

I think what she suggests is against worker rights and progress.

I’ve always wondered the reasoning women rack up so much student loan debt if they have no intention of putting their career first. I know a woman who majored in biology back in college. 10 years later she is a stay at home mom. $80k education down the toilet.

This was how we used to think back when we based our society on reason and logic. Now that we are a feminist society emotions are all that matters.

That is until the money runs out. Unfortunately, with the levels of debt in many Western countries now, that point is fast approaching. Once we are poor again like third world countries (the ultimate goal of the globalist Left) we will be like Bangladesh and India where almost half of IT grads are women. You see when women don't get to 'choice' but have to make decisions based on economic reality they choose courses that pay a decent salary. No more Wimmin's Studies and Anthro-masochism. Those sort of courses are for rich people. So it seems only when we are poor again will we achieve real equality.

But seriously, the reality for these women is that when they get pregnant they get a massive dose of estrogen which changes their priorities. Suddenly, for many women the career is not that important but the kids and family are. Of course there are exceptions but here we are talking about the 43%. Actually the real figure would be much higher except in the modern world many women have to work to help pay the bills.
