I noticed this too and when I saw Jurassic world I took count of all the extras that were being killed by those flying dino things and literally all were men. Granted I may have missed something but it seems weird to me that the only woman attacked in that scene was the assistant. It's almost as if those dinos have a weird craving for human cock

It's really just intellectual cowardice going even further beyond catering to the lowest common denominator. People like women so it's disappointing but unsurprising that media focusing on mass appeal coddles this... but even outside of a by-the-numbers production it's disappointing to see so many who simply lack the self-awareness to create a thought-provoking narrative.

I've wondered if my own tastes tended to include shows with more harmless or "kiddy" narratives... because so many of the ones that are supposedly more "mature" seem to inevitably demonstrate just how superficial and shallow they are with any amount of edginess. Usually enjoying them means ignoring the elephant in the room (obsessive death of men, probability denying survival of women) and trying to find some other aspect to attach to with varying degrees of success.

I guess for an example of some of the stuff I'm talking about, consider The Iron Giant. I think it's fair to say that some may call it a "kiddy" movie because there's some shenanigans that occur that are very animated-kid's-movie~esque (E.G. "pet" squirrel loose in the cafe, "pet" robot, etc) but most importantly nobody dies. People in disposable positions are male, of course, but it becomes a bit moot thanks to the knowledge that nobody's going to die. Instead you get to simply enjoy what does happen and the ideas it explores.

Oh, I guess some of those thoughts also largely apply to Avatar: The Last Airbender. What a spectacular work. (And probably easier to see the "kiddy" label somewhat attached to it when you compare it to Legend of Korra which desperately attempted to shake that idea and in the process demonstrated kind of what I'm talking about.)

Anyways, I think I'm babbling a bit. Not sure where I was going with all of this. Maybe mentioning something about the 1980s The Thing and how the cast was deliberately made all-male to avoid the distractions about "save the women" which demonstrates one of many problems with the 2011 "prequel".

Also, lots of quotes around lots of words.

I can't stand the whole "woman kicks man in the nuts, girl power!" tripe.

Check out this fight scene from Deadpool.

He is besting her physically but then he's weakened by her sexuality and finished with a groin strike. (Because groin strike equals unconsciousness, of course.)

I actually posted this in r.movies asking if anyone else thought it was overtly feminist. I genuinely felt it was OTT and hadn't realised at that point that feminism and humiliating men in movies was actually the mainstream. It was not well received.

If you're looking for a fun challenge, just try to find ten movies that don't include some form of violence against men. People are so blind or oblivious to it but you will find violence against men in pretty much every movie in one form or another. It's either for drama, for humour, for revenge, for "empowerment" or just needless violence, but it's pretty much constant in popular media(and, when it's not men/women harming men, it's men harming themselves or being physically harmed by circumstance). It's not even uncommon to see violence against men, or even sexual violence(targeting the male genitals), in programming targeted for young audiences.

Is this the fault of women? Wouldn’t a lot of these movies be written and/or directed by men?
